Ohio has been a deciding factor in the Presidential elections in the last 2 elections. There was rampant corruption in the Republicans governer's office in Ohio, and, the state has been economically in a spiral downward since '01. Ohio elected a democratic governor, and Senator, last Fall. Recent polls show Ohio supports Democratic hopefuls over Republican hopefuls in a clear and definate advantage for the '08 race thus far. Will Ohio turn blue for the foreseeable future?

Ohio is an interesting state. Many still hold the same values as the Midwestern states but there are enough large cities and urban areas that it is balanced with more liberal sensibilities. I think, for the foreseeable future, that their electoral votes could go either way based mostly on turnout..........

Ohio will vote for the Democrat in 08. That is unless Hillary Clinton wins the nomination.
Tow of Ohio's major cities, Cleveland and Cincinnati, are now the number 2 and 3 poorest cities in the USA. Since November last year, the number of people on welfare in the state has more than doubled. Since 2001, Ohio has had a negative job growth, losing amost 200,000 jobs in that period. Unempolyment statewide is well about the national average. In many counties, unemployment is in the double digits.
During the Republican booming economy, people in Ohio have been losing wealth. This when the entire state government, and the majority of the US representatives from Ohio, and both Senators were Republican.
Ohio is pretty sick of the Republican booming economy and will surely vote the Democratic ticket in 08 if a moderate Democrat is nominated. There is, however, clear resistence against Hillary Clinton, who is revealing herself more and more as a socialist. Here in Ohio, we want a new direction, but we don't want that direction to be socialism.

Ohio voted Dem because of the rampant corruption recently with the Republicans in the state.
Bob Ney - Abrhamoff scandal
Tom Noe - coingate
Bob Taft - Pleaded guilty to hiding gifts/contributions/golf outings
Ken Blackwell - Suspected of voter manipulation while in charge of Board of Elections

I live in Ohio and I will tell you what I know about this.

The only reason Dem's were voted for was because they were tired of the repubs in office and they felt they were getting screwed over.

As long as someone is against gay marriage people in Ohio will vote for them.

How do I know, these are the same people that won't allow for a Casino to be built or slot parlors because they believe there will be an increase in crime, however these same people go to neighboring states every weekend to blow there money on the slots.

I don't think so. Many states have been rumored to be turning 'blue' over the years. In the end, they always stay red. If I were a Democrat, I would be worried about some traditionally blue states turning red.
