Yes they can; it is true, that is why your obgyn is the only realiable person to give you the best bc pill, if he prescribes you the right bc pill for your body, you will have no problems on gainning weight; if you see that your weight is going up due to them, your obgyn will prescribe you another bc pills, that suits you better.

Good luck! ;D

No.
Birth control pills just cause bloating, fluids retention and maybe some breast enlargement. But DON'T 'add' any fat mass to your body.
The way to escape this slight change in weight is drinking a lot of water, have a healthy diet and do some little exercise to let go of the unnecessairy fluids in your body.

Plus, nowadays, pills are more controlled than ever, in order to prevent that side effect. Talk to your doctor and he'll recommend you the best pill.

Birth control pills change your body's hormonal level and that will also affect the way you process and store away the calories you eat. Personally, I gained 10 pounds when I started with birth control pills, even though I ate less than before. However, not all women react that way.

nothing 'makes' you fat, but birth control pills have been known to add on a few pounds. You are adding extra hormones to your body, tricking it into thinking that you are pregnant. Your body is going to respond to that by trying to 'feed the baby.' (that's not really there) All this prevents you from releasing eggs. (pregnant women don't release eggs) so that there is nothing to fertilize when you have sex. So, no, it won't make you fat it just may make you more hungry than usual and you won't realize it. Just watch what you eat and you'll be fine. OH...and your breasts may in large a bit because of all this also, I personally liked that part.

Birth control pills cause hormone imbalance which can cause weight gain. 20-30 years ago the birth control pills out were notorius for causing weight gain. The newer pills out are not as harsh, but you can still gain.

Oh yeah! But then again so does pregnancy. Seriously though
if you notice any effects like weight gain you should get a different prescription. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get one that suits your metabolism.

no, they do not "make" you "fat" ... the change in horomones is linked to some women putting on a few pounds (5-10) ... you need to pay attention to the changes in your body (increased apetite, cravings, metabolism, exercise, etc.) ...
