You shouldn't get pain that bad that you want to scream. Since it lasted for a bit, and then reoccured, it sounds like you had a few contractions. I would definitely bring this up to your doctor, very soon. Braxton Hicks contractions should not hurt that bad.

You sound like you are having a gas pain. Gas pains are common even without a pregnancy and can really hurt. Some of them hurt so bad under your ribs that you feel you cannot even take in a breath without passing out. If the pain is on the left side of the abdoman there isn't any serious body part over there except the top of the stomach. All your major organs that would give you a pain like that are on the right side of your body. Mostly what is over there is your left ribcage, left lung, stomach top and intestines so most likely it is gas unless you have punctured your lung which you would not be able to breath right either, or cracked a rib. My sister's baby actually kicked her in the womb when it got big (born at almost 10 lbs) and bruised her ribs on the inside of her so she had lots of pain in the last months of her pregnancy. Any pain isn't a good sign even if it is major gas so it needs to be checked out. If your ob/gyn doctor isn't helping you on that, then go see your normal family doctor for it. I'm sure there is some kind of treatment that you can take for gas that won't hurt baby if that is what it is. Sometimes just an alkaseltser or bicarbonate of soda can releave it if its gas. The movement of baby in the womb can shift a lot of things around to places that normally they would not go and that can be uncomfortable. Get the pain checked out just to reassure yourself that all is ok. Congratulations on baby to be.

the baby just probably moved to a place where it was uncomfortable for you. sometimes i get those and its so bad that i cant breathe. you just have to wait it out i guess.
