why do we respect brother arabs so much when we are guests in their countries and when they are all over every place in egypt and they dont ?
i was in city stars in the elevator with my husband and there was an arabian family i dont know which nationality , they keptt on taking about egypt and pyramids and pharaoes in a very bad way , thay said what are these stones ( pyramids ) we are proud of a lot , and what is egyptian civilzation in the first place is it rocks and pyramids and they made fun of us , despite the existance of me and my husband and believe me we do look egyptians
the question is :
1) if we were in their country visitng and having nice time , would we be nasty enough to insult them in their faces as they did
2) being ignorant and not understanding that civilization is not rocks of pyramids ,but how it was done and how did it last for centuries does this allow them to talk loudly and show their ignorance to the world
of course i replied to them dont worry

Wow, i don't know where to start, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being proud of our heritage and what our country stands for. It was blessed by being mentioned in the holy Quran, most of the prophets (pbut) have been through it or lived in it. We have the richest culture and the kindest, sweetest, must humorus people among all the Arab nations.

These things among many more are reason enough for us to be very proud of who we r and what we have "HISTORY".

As for Arabs, i do not like to generalize, i have met many arabs from different countries who are really well educated, decent human beings, however, we do know of the OTHERS and their hatred not only to us but to themselves.

Brother Adam, there is nothing absolutely wrong with feeling proud not only of what u have done but what yr loved ones have accomplished. Not all the Egyptians were "the pharoah" u mean, and he wasn't the one who built those lasting monuments. It was our ancestors the true Egyptians. Can't u look at this from another point of view that it is by the Grace of Allah (SWT) that they r still standing. Wasn't it made clear in the holy Quran that he was hated as a ruler (same as many rulers of today) does that make all of them or all of us bad. Pls reconsider yr point of view and try to understand it from ours.

Finally, sweety when i see someone wo is ignorant enough to say what they said, i find his ignorance really pathetic and i take pity on them. So don't feel bad. We all know better.

I agree totally, they should open their borders and help because it is according to International Law. Egypt do help Palestinians, they do try to make them have peace within and they already house 1 million refugees since 1967. However, many Egyptians still do want to help but because of U.S, E.U and Israeli pressure they don't want to be involved. They should help, even more the fact that Gaza is Egyptian territory but Egypt don't want to have sour relations with the west. France is helping it build several nuclear power stations and Egypt have a huge dam that if destroyed will wipe out many major cities. Israel has threatened that if they go to war ever, Israeli jets will target that dam.

I'm American, but I had to comment. My husband and I have a very good friend who is Egyptian (he lives here now). He came over to help us move and was wearing sandals. We both said to him, "Why are you wearing sandals? You need sturdier shoes to help us move!" and he said, "Egyptians built the pyramids wearing sandals!"

That shut us up. :) I appreciate that Egyptians cherish their treasures, like the pyramids. I think Dr. Hawass is doing a good job protecting the antiquities. These things, the pyramids and other ruins, antiquities, etc., are a true treasure for the whole world. Kudos to you for being proud. :)

{P.S. Did you know the movie "Mannequin" has an Egyptian princess named Emmy in it?

I noticed your name "Emy" and went to Wikipedia to see of my memory of that movie was correct.}

do you think this is just an Egyptian/Arab thing. i think you find this attitude all over the world. it will always be necessary for some to criticize it makes them feel better about them selves. by talking about others in a deprecating way they can show themselves as apparently being more intelligent, richer or just somehow better. this applies to race religion, creed and colour. i better than you because i am a better colour or i am better then you because i am more religious. etc etc
laugh at them for their stupidity, pity them for their ignorance, but dont allow them to annoy you, they are beneath you. ignore them.
