and state the same things over and over again do you ever wonder how many of them actually work for the various campaign staffs and are just seeking to influence others thinking by planting seeds for their candidates and tearing down others? I know that politics induces strong feelings but it seems that a lot of the same people continue to beat the same dead horse by simply re-wording the same question. I guess there's no real way to know huh?

I don't know, Chi Guy, I think that they would. It's free, many of their volunteers are probably already using this site, there are millions of people who ask/answer questions here daily and Romney asked his own question a couple of weeks ago regarding the tax structure and got thousands of responses. The internet is the best thing that ever happened to the marketing industry and the candidates have shown us that they recognize this.

I know that a reasonable, intelligent person isn't going to be influenced by anything that they see on here but looking at the state of politics in this country should really tell you that the majority of Americans are neither reasonable nor intelligent when it comes to the campaign trail.

It would be rather pointless for campaign staffers to dissiminate propaganda or other information relating to the candidate they work for since the vast majority of users here in Y!A Politics have long-held, deeply-rooted views and opinions that are unlikely to be changed by anything posted by anonymous staffers. Anyone who would be swayed by such dissimination are the ones who do not cling to any steadfast ideology and generally do not take politics seriously. These forums are simply clearinghouses of differing ideals and opinions or places for party faithful and ideologues to bash their adversaries.

I think you take a giant leap, and unfortunately without a parachute!

I actually learn a lot here, especially on how the other side really thinks, or for the most part doesn't!

Do you have any idea how many times I have read the Constitution, the Federalist papers, many speeches and papers from our founding fathers, the Magna Carte. I probably would not have read or reread them to a point that I can almost recite them!!

I agree with you about the same questions, however many are not. Many are just attacks or hyperbole with no basis!

We have so many people in this country with opinions yet I learned that an opinion is like a butt, everyone has one. I also learned that Actions speak louder than words sooo We need actionary persons to make a difference in the apathy of serious situations. Terrorists need not apply. Campaigns would not waste their time and energy attempting to influence a handful of YA users. They either direct market or utilize mass media to include Internet websites.

As for strong feelings, watching neo-cons squander the lives of young service men and women deserves to be spoken out against. Their deficit spending and narcissistic attitudes are extremely counter productive.

edit: Good point. Consider this, if a large enough segment of voters can be influenced via YA, your theory is sound. The onle way to know would be to find out how many YA users participate in YA politics. If the number is sufficiently large then I could see them doing so. Thus, your question has merit.

Just looking at the answers already to this question points to the tendency to ideological zealotry rather than sound, reasoned debate.
Shrillness, dogma, repetition, talking points, only persuade the weak-minded and re-enforce the 'faithful' as it were. But it just causes the rest of us to roll our eyes and sigh.

I would think it would be more wannabe staffers than actual staffers, still, you practice what you preach, so, if you were a staffer, and you happened to enjoy YA, and you recognized it as a tool to help your agenda, why wouldn't you use it? I would, were I a staffer.

Good point.

By the way - Yahoo is hiring 18 more liberal 13-yr-olds to hold down the house.

The pay isn't all that great, but to a 13-yr-old it's good money and most of them are super fast on deleting solid questions being asked by the conservatives.

MORE important, is they can find and delete any statements, links, facts or other items noteworthy enough to make liberals look like wolves in sheeps clothing.

I haven't wondered whether people work for campaign staffs, but that's a valid question.

I have strong opinions because I am an oldish person watching Liberalism destroy children.
