I've read several articles concerning the new 08's and the 6.0 liter upgrade with new camshaft, cylinder heads, slicker shifting mechanism and tons of options give us a solid "middle step" under the 505 hp. 427 ci. option. The new 430 hp. option (above) will knock down better fuel economy than any of the specialty "Mousetangs" Roush or otherwise. A strange thing is prevalent when guy's are contemplating a bank loan for these Ford offerings.
It seems that the base price for these cars is around $23,000. Add the Roush package and the price jumps another $20,000. Banks don't want to invest loans over Ford's base price as the resale value will drop through their tail unless some die-hard silly buyer is willing to invest in something that has less resale value than a Corvette!

Mixed opinions. They are bad, bad cars........But, they don't feel like Vettes anymore.
I don't know if it is bad, or not, but they are too refined. I just got done driving an 08 Z06, and putting the pics online (my job), and the car was sweet. Especially in Atomic Orange. It's just thst they are getting so expensive, and so teched out that they are almost like a Euro car (not necassarilly a bad thing.) They just don't scream out Muscle Car anymore.....and havent since the C3. The only other negative, was that they are just about 5-10 grand less than a Viper now......which means they are not the bargain they once were......and they still fall behind the Viper in performance....(see the new MotorTrend, where Danica Patrick drives 'em both). But, I will say that if I needed one or the other, and it had to be a daily driver, I think I would pick the Vette (which I never thought I would say.....I am a life time Viper Guy).
But in all honesty.....I would probably save myself a few pennies, and go with a Porsche Caymen S instead of either.
That said.....it was the most exciting vette i've driven that was built after 72. The 6 speed manual was laser precise, and the loping of the motor was like a dose of some crazy drug.
That said, wait till you see the Blue Devil.
*edit.....to the fella who commented about the value....finding a car that can beat it, would be over 100,000 bucks....ever hear of the Viper? (again refer to the article). They invoice at 86, but at the dealers I work, I have seen them as low as 79 (they seemed to have dipped some with Chryslers roller coaster ride), where as the invoices on Z06 are around 76big, and that is if you are fortunate enough to find one the dealer hasn't tagged a markup on. Value wise, it is a wash (although the "base" LS3 w/430 hp is still a pretty good deal). Really, the decider between Vette and Viper now comes to 2 things......Are you a BowTie guy, or a Mopar man, and whther you are looking to be king of the Track, or have a bad, bad, daily driver.

Personally, I am very excited about the LS3 engine. Jumping from the 6.0 LS2 to the 6.2 LS3 with the optional dual mode exhaust system is a nice touch, kicking out 436 HP and dropped the 0-60 down to 4.1 and the quarter down to 12.4.
In addition, the little touches that only big vette geeks know, like the composite body structure, magnesium motor mounts and an improved shorter shifter throw makes them drive even better than the 07's, which were pretty nice to begin with.
As for the European car fans, take your $250,000 import that still just barely beats a Z-06 at $150,000 less and tell me if a tenth of a second is worth that much more money....

All Corvettes are awesome. Personally, I like the older models much better (60s and early 70s). They vary in looks more.

is everyone crazy, if you drove a new vette you would never go back, man what a differance from 4 yrs ago, 50% weight ratio from front to back, too much power to use in canada without getting into trouble, the ride it 150 times better that the older vettes, there is no comparison, anyone that says so is stuck in the past, should be shot and p-ssed on, maybe they haven't got to take the new ones out for a good roadtest,
for the price/value there isn't a better sports car out there today...glen

They are by far the most incredible car in the world for the price!. You will need to spend a minimum of a $100,000 more to get a comparable ride.
The styling is great, perfromance is incredible and the reliability exceeds all the other players.
