Sunshine MacGillicutty and boyfriend, U.S.Marshal Matt Dillon, have left Dodge City and have traveled to her home in Virginia. Todd Yates, Sunshine's brother, is suffering from a particularly tough bout with depression.

When they arrived at Sunshine's parent's home, Frederick and Dannie Yates, she was told he was out by the south fence.

Sunshine took one look at him and ran over, arms out stretched.
Todd:" SUNSHINE!! You came ! " He started crying...... " I don't know how to talk to ma and pa about this."
Sunshine:" I can see the story in your eyes, Todd. We'll work through this together."
Todd : " Gosh....You really must love me to come this far."
Sunshine:" Oh, Todd. You're my brother.
I love you dearly. Come with me. I want you to meet Matt."
Todd and Sunshine joined their parents and Matt in the front garden.
They exchanged pleasantries, and then Sunshine and Todd wandered off, arm in arm.
Matt watched them. He turned to Frederick and Dannie........ Let the healing begin."

Dannie showed Matt her prized flowers.
Matt:" Now I know where Sunshine gets her love of gardening."
Frederick: "My wife and I were married in December of '39. There were no flowers, except those grown in hothouses....Far too expensive for me."
Dannie:"So the two of us spent the eve of our wedding making (1) Paper roses." She smiled at her husband as he blushed. "They became my wedding bouquet."
Matt was deeply touched. More and more he saw the fabric from which his darling Sunshine had been cut.
Frederick:'Wife.... I believe we may be making Marshal Dillon uncomfortable."
Matt:"No sir. I think what you two did was beautiful. And please...... Call me, "Matt."

They chatted a bit longer and then Dannie and Frederick went back in the house. Matt lingered in the garden. He heard a sound and turned.......It was Kevin Dunbar, Sunshine's former boyfriend:

" (2) Oh no....you again," exclaimed Kevin, laughing. They shook hands. "Where's Sunshine?"
Matt:" She's with Todd."
Kevin put down his knapsack. "Yeah, poor Todd. He just can't seem to put the pieces back together again." He paused....... "When his girlfriend left him it shattered his soul."
He looked directly into Matt's eyes...... "I know that feeling ALL too well."
Matt:"Yes. Well. This is not a time for you and I to get into all that now."
Kevin : " Seems like a good time to me. Listen......(7) Man to man. Are you ever going to make an 'honest woman' out of her?"
Sunshine walked up at this point ...... "Hello, Kevin. Now WHY would he want to do that?!"
Kevin turned around to face the woman he still loved.
Sunshine shook his hand ..... And then walked over to Matt. He put his arm around her shoulders and smiled down at her.
Kevin:" Well, I see nothing's changed with you two." He looked away for a moment. "Sunshine, please extend my best wishes to Todd and your parents." He bowed slightly and left.

Matt held Sunshine in his arms........ " (6) Hello my friend, hello." He kissed her cheek...... "How's Todd?"
Sunshine:"You won't believe this, but I actually think he's feeling better."
Matt smiled and gave her a gentle squeeze...... "I believe it. I always feel better when you and I talk."
Sunshine:" Mmmmmm, you know, I was just thinking........."
Matt:"Absolutely not!!"
Sunshine:" Well doggone it! I need some lovin' and if you're not interested maybe I should go see if...."
Matt grabbed her and kissed her long and hard.

That night during dinner, it was obvious that Todd's spirits had been lifted. He participated in a lively discussion of politics and his appetite had returned. Dannie sqeezed Sunshine's hand.
Todd:" So, Matt..... How long do you think you can stay?"
Matt:" Well, I think I need to head back back in a few days."
Sunshine dabbed her lips with her napkin and looked at him.
"Matt.... I was thinking that maybe I could stay a couple of weeks."
Everyone was silent as Matt jerked his head to look at her. He quickly regained his composure....... "Whatever you think is right."

After supper, Matt and Sunshine took a wee walk by the nearby woods.
Sunshine slid down a small hill and stood by the side of a creek........ "Don't be angry with me, Matt." She reached out for his hand....." This is not (5) A time to gather stones together. This is a time for a sister to help her beloved brother recover from an illness that has plagued him for far too long. There is (A time to dance, a time to mourn)...... Todd needs to dance. I need to help him."
Sunshine started back toward the house. Matt grabbed her and swung her around, into his arms. He took her by total surprise! " I thought you said 'no.' "
Matt:" And when have you ever listened to me?" She started to laugh as Matt covered her lips with his.

When they finally got back to the house, Matt stopped as they stood by the garden.
Matt:" (3) It's good to need you like I do, Sunshine. You make me alive." He picked a flower and put it behind her ear.
Sunshine: "Matt Dillon........ I will love you, (4) Forever and a day."

"paper roses, paper roses like your imitation love for me....." The old marie Osmond song drifted across the courtyard through the open window. It was a warm night and Steve was running late. As he ran through the evening in his mind his thoughts were interrupted by a buzz on the intercom. "Damn.", he muttered under his breath. He was totally unprepared for the arrival of the man standing in the doorway. A man so tall he almost blocked the light from the appartment.A man Steve hoped he would never have to see again in his life. " Oh no..you again" he thought and sighed as he stepped aside.
"Hello my friend, hello" said the man giant as he stepped confidently into the appartment without invitation. " We need a talk, my friend. Man to man."

There is a path in a forest that leads to a little meadow with a swift silent stream. At the foot of the stream sat Timmy Anderson, Ninja Master. Timmy sat, proped up against the flat of an old tree trunk pondering about past events. As he sat in silence, he heard footsteps coming toward him. He looked up and gazed at the person hastily moving forward to meet him. The strange man was wearing a red clad shirt, made of animal skins and silk. His pants and shoes were also of similar make and look. As the man got closer timmy could see his face, he said in a loud voice, "Hello my friend, hello!" The man slowed as he came close to the ninja. Timmy arose to his feet, they stood at even hieght and roughly the same body structure. The man said in a deep and crackly voice, "Oh no...you again". They stood silent for a moment, and then burst into laughter, "John!" said timmy, "what brings you here at this day and age!? Would this be A time to gather stones together like we did in our old village?" John replied in a narrow depressed voice "No...this would be" he paused, "A time to dance, a time to mourn" Timmy did not understand, John said " I see you are confused, I am here to kill you my brother, we shall fight man to man." "But why!?" shouted Timmy. "There is a bounty on your head" John explained "And it is too great for even family to ignore." they both stood staring into each other eyes, a kindling of embers sparked in their eyes. "What is the price of my head?" question Timmy "Why the hand of the emperors daught no less!" remarked John in a rather rude tone. "Very well, if there is no way out of thi..." "There isnt!!" John replied angrily.
John leaped high into the air thrusting his hand to his side drawing a glimmering samuri sword from its hilt. But to the master ninja, this happend in slow motion. He could see every ripple on his brothers fluttering coat, his ninja senses were far to advanced for his brother to even have a chance of success. Timmy dove to the side thrusting his hand toward his brother. A shiny object flew toward john, it burned a yellow flame in the sunlight. The object was a Ninja Star, it had a strange beauty as it sliced threw the air. The beaty that you see in roses, but roses are for life and love. This Star would be better compared to Paper roses, the lifeless yet strangly desireable objects that only the talented could make. The flaming star shot threw john without a sound and wedged itself in the tree that stood behind him. John fell, the ground seemed to catch him softly, a cold breeze fluttered threw the meadow that was so peaceful minutes ago. The master ninja took his beloved star from the tree, and went to the stream, and was silent drifting ever onward into the far reaches of his mind.
