My bf's mom has asked (told) us that we need to be available tom. night so that her mom & all of us can go out for "Grandparents day" she started doing this last year. I said this to my bf last year - it is a fake holiday & not something that needs to be celebrated by forcing us to go out (it's not his g-ma that wants to do it it's his crazy mom) I think a simple card would do. I just want to know if anyone actually celebrates this holiday by going out...

if you have seen any of my other questions about my bf mom then you know that she drives me up the wall, plus we are already having dinner with her & her husband on sun. I think I more pissed that she told us we had to do it. & Ladies day?? I wasn't aware such a day existed. I feel that obviously if they are a grandparent they are obviously a mother or a father so they celebrate on mothers day or fathers day & a grandparent day is another excuse for the card companies to sell another card

My Grandparents are both in there 80's never have they ever mentioned such a day. So while I may have vaguely heard of this day I was unaware anybody tried to turn it into a Mother or Fathers Day.

I should also point out my parents are also Grandparents and they never have asked my Brother, Sister in law- Niece, or Nephew to celebrate or observe this day.

If it wasn't for the fact I happened to be checking the holiday category I wouldn't even have none it was Grandparents Day. What's next Uncle and Aunts day?

Nope don't celebrate or acknowledge that so called holiday.

I think personally it was Hallmark way of sticking something in the month of Sept. to sell more cards.
Yes, grandparents should be recognized because now a days many grandparents are the one's raising their children's children.
A simple card, Thank You for being our grandparent, would be fine.

In Singapore we have grandparent day in November... Not many people celebrate or remember it... But our family do bring our grandparent out and have dinner as well...

I think it is a good to have Grandparent Day... As family members can gather together and known each other as well... As modern day... Everybody is too occupied with job and study...

I think U should accept the gathering... If U ever think that U one day will married your boyfriends.. U still need to have a good relationship with his family members and get to known them as well... Otherwise how your going to stay together in harmony... Good luck...

I agree with you.. There are alot of grand parents out there who should not be acknowledged. Like you said a card would do just fine.. I am not celebrating sh*t, I got better things to do then to waste time.

You celebrate your birthday, Mother's day, Father's day, Ladies day, why not a Grandparents day - jeez, it's only one day in the year and it will make people happy. Do it and enjoy!

Simple solution, let your boyfriend go with his Grandparents and show them that he cares about them. This is your second year of negative?Stay positive and let them do what they want to do.I would never invite anyone to go with my family if I knew they really didn't want tot go.Speak up or bow out.....

Had to do a God job today in a hospital. Had to spiritually tell a little girl I was her grandparent.
