Good question.
I think this year's defense is better than last year's, and they were pretty good last year.
On offense, however, I think it's too early to tell. They lost a lot of talent. We will need to see how Flynn and the receivers develop.

I'd say last years. Losing Jamarcus Russell was huge, but they aren't bad this year. I'd favor them to win the BCS Championship over USC this year. They only reason I they didn't win last year was because Florida and Arkansas were too strong, although I'll argue that LSU was better than Arkansas last year. LSU looked a little sloppy on offense last Saturday but their defense looked good. I think they have an exceptional team and they will show it off in the coming weeks. After all, there has only been one week of play.

It's a bit too early to tell. Losing Russell, Bowe, & Landry hurt obviously, but that's the good thing about LSU. They are stacked at damn near every position.

Nobody in college football had an arm like Russell's sure, but he isn't a field general like Flynn. Russell would hold the ball just a bit too long on every pass. Flynn has a good arm also, but it's his vision in looking down the field to see if anything is open. If not, he's got the legs and the brain to tuck and run if nothing opens up.

Bowe was definitely one of the biggest and best WR's in the nation, but right out of the gate with out stable of WR's is Doucet, Holliday, Lafell (nice block on Miss St.), and the true freshman in Tolliver. If either one gets open, who's gonna catch em downfield?

Landry will be the hardest position to replace, but Steltz I'm sure will do his best (3 int's against Miss St.)

It is too early to tell.

I think this years team is better. We have a quarterback that is smart an athletic, just like when we won the National Championship.

It'd help if you specified ISU...Iowa State? Indiana State? Illinois State? Way too many ISU's.
