if it is a wireless internet connection there is no real need to do anything except stop using the laptop,if you have named the laptop as part of a network go into my network places and delete the name of the laptop

There are several ways
Method 1 - Right click on the connection Icon near the clock and pick View Available networks, then click on the connection and hit the Disconnect button.
Method 2 - Turn off that laptop
Method 3 - If you do not have access to that laptop and you are trying to disconnect your Brother... or something LAME like that, then reprogram the router to use a different Wireless Security code.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

If you want to prevent your son's laptop from accessing your wireless network, you can either set a password on the network (but this makes logging on harder for you), or you can just set up the router to limit the MAC addresses from which it will accept connections. Just choose the MAC addresses of YOUR devices, and not his, and then he won't be able to log in.
The MAC address is a unique hardware address assigned to each internet-enabled device. It is different that the IP address, which is software generated. The MAC address is assigned by the device's manufacturer and can never change. Your router should be able to show you a list of computers currently connected, including their MAC addresses. At a time when your son is not logged on, list the devices, and then set up the router to ONLY allow those addresses. Then your son's computer will not be able to log in.
By the way -- I think if you need to take this step, you and your son need more help than we computer geeks can offer!

Just select "view wireless networks" on the laptop, and select "disconnect" from the BT hub. If you remove the wireless key information from the laptop, you won't be able to reconnect without this info.

Pick it up and carry it away. I'm not trying to be flippant, most people WANT to connect to their network.
You could turn off the wireless interface, or select another wireless network from the list.
