Just say no if you dont want to not even your parents can make you get a pap. Theres no law that will force you to you just have to say no when they go to start and be forceful about it make sure they KNOW your serious. You will however have to deal with the backlash from your mom. No one can tell you what to do with your body but yourself EVER not even your parents as much as they might care it comes down to your choice. Though 16 is too young unless your having sex having them isnt a bad thing they can be very life saving though i highly doubt you need one right now even if your having sex. GOOD LUCK!
Oh i had to add more seeing your comment. Still you dont have to have one some people are late bloomers. Now if your 18 and havent had one then a doctor should be consulted but still you wouldent need a pap maybe some hormone pills or injection to make the cycle start. Or birth control pills that can also regulate the cycle. So in summary your body your choice just say no. You can always refuse medical treatment. EVen if its life threatening like heart surgery.

ok, as you asked - NO, i don't think there is a law or anything that will legally allow you to refuse a pap if your mother takes you to the doctor to get one.
but...........
please read:
if something is wrong with your body, and you fall ill b/c you never went to the dr to be made aware of the problem, wouldn't you be sad? what if you became confined to a bed b/c something terrible was going on "down below" and it took over your whole immune system? the life that you know now, would be over. don't you think your mom would be sad, especially if she did everything that she could to kindly encourage you to get a pap, as opposed to forcing you?
i mean really, what is your reasoning for not wanting one? have you heard some horror stories or something? do you think it's going to disrupt your mental stability?
if you go through the rest of your life without one..........
well, heck, you know what? you're 16. you must think you're grown. so, who cares?
who cares if your vagina never gets a check up? who cares if you have internal bacteria that is having a direct effect on your daily activities? who cares if you never have children? who cares?
going to the gyno- is like going to the dentist, right? - you're supposed to go at least (what is it?) every 6 months??? so, you're supposed to go for your pap like..., once a year... and if you don't, then oh well.
be blessed. hope you have a nice life, and i do hope that your first visit to the gyno- is as pleasant as can be - whenever it happens... cuz believe me, better to know how to deal with it; and move on. they are inevitable.

It depends on where you live and the age of majority in that area. If you are still considered a minor, then the law states you are under your parent's care and must do as she says. If the age of majority states you are of legal age, then she cannot force you to do this and even the test results cannot be given to her unless authorized by you to do so. Check the age of majority in your state.
Getting a Pap is not as scary as it seems. It may be a bit uncomfortable, but it is not painful. It is done primarily to detect cells for cervical cancer, but a swab can also detect bacteria caused by STD's. (Is your mom suspecting you are having intercourse, her reason to force you to have the Pap?)

You should do this. It's very important and you'll need to go at least once a year.
I knew someone in her mid 20's who didn't have one for 6 years and when she finally went, they found cervical cancer and she was at stage 4 which was too late to do anything. Not trying to scare you but it's one of those things that as women, we need to do. I go every 6 months.

Just say no.
No one can force you. NO ONE.
If need be fake it by saying you're going but leave the house (on your own!) and go to the place, wait about half an hour and then go back home.
If you are forced to go along you can refuse on the day and you can refuse on the table. You can even refuse halfway through if you are not comfortable, just say no and they will stop.
Or, you can make an appointment and go along just to talk, tell them this, but don't tell your mom that.
Don't worry, the choice is yours. 16 is too young for a pap smear anyway unless you're sexually active but think carefully because they are given for a good reason. Going along to talk to the professionals about your concerns is not a bad idea anyway.

You SHOULD get a pap!
Its for your health. You should have it done after you've started menstruating, BEFORE you have sex, or if you have issues with your period and are concerned.
I've been having paps for 22 years (33 y/o) and although its not my favorite thing, I do it for my HEALTH.

your parents have control of you and your best interests in mind. therefore, there is no way to get out of this. It is odd that you haven't started yet, so you need to go to the right doctor to get it checked out. It's not as scary as it seems. the doctor should talk you through everything they will do. don't worry!

Babe, your 16. You're not a legal adult until you're 18.. or is it 21? I dunno.
Go have it done. It's not that bad. And you'll be like 'ah.. why was I worried!?' when its all over.

how are they going to force you? tie you down, drug you - no you cannot be forced into a pa smear.
so just say NO F... OFF
there is no law, its not like you are being sectioned for mental health reasons, even then you couldnt be forced into it.
tell your mother no you are not having it done, you will have it done maybe when you are older when it is your choice

your 16 so you do have patients rights. surely she cant make you do anything at 16 if u dont want to. keep sayin you dont want to have one done. if she books the apointment thn go and who ever is goin to do it then say my mum says she wants me to have one and i dont want to have it done.
then whoever does it will make the decision whether you need one or not. your mum sounds very adamant.
Take care
xx
