I like to use a bit of baking soda in my laundry w/ the regular laundry detergent.. It gets rid of any musty odors and allows for using less soap... It's gentle/mild on the skin and very, very cheap ! I use about 1/2C per load and I don't have a problem with musty clothing... Good luck

I have noticed my clothes can get musty smelling if I leave them in the washer too long after the wash cycle is over OR if I let clothes set in the dryer and they aren't quite dry. Take your clothes out of the washer and dryer as soon as possible and that should help.

Well if is a smell that is still there even after washing here is what I had to do.I washed a load of white with bleach the smell might be in the washer. I also have this one blanket I always have to put baking soda in with the wash to keep it from coming out with a bad smell.

Soap and softener should do the trick.
The most important thing is to be sure once your clothes are done washing to get them out of the washer and into the dryer or hang them out almost immediately. The longer they stay in the washer the worse it gets. I made this mistake once. And just starting the wash over if you forget it doesnt help you have to dry it all first then rewash it.

Try the new Tide "scentsations" - they have matching detergent and fabric softener in in scents like lavender. The more you use, the stronger the smell of the scent and the less you will smell the must.
Also - your home might be humid, causing that musty smell. Maybe you could also try a de-humidifier....

Sometimes this happens to my laundry..but I do tend to
leave it sitting there for days...
Tide Original is one of my faves..
it smells great!
I just tried this scent by "Gain" called "Cotton Fresh"
It smells awesome to me..
Anyways...There is this stuff I bought at
"Dollar Tree"..(a dollar store)
called:
LA's TOTALLY AWESOME OXYGEN BASE CLEANER
(chlorine free)
I just mix it into the wash....with my regular detergent
for the next couple of washes..
This eliminated the musty smell.......

wash like clothes together. don't let the clothes sit in the washer for very long especially in this heat. dry them immediately and put up. is your closet musty???? clean out your closet and see if that helps.

Use a rinse conditioner for clothes. Try and dry your clothes outside. When dry, don't put immediately away. Fold and leave in the basket for a while before putting away.

i've found that washing less clothes in a load help the soap get in the clothes better and they come out smelling better.
