I just drove this myself in August. Although we took longer than you propose so that we could see more along the way.

We did Las Vegas to Lone Pine, Lone Pine to Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Lake to Yosemite, Yosemite to San Francisco.

For your route through Death Valley, rather than take the 95 to Beatty, turn off the 95 before then at Amargosa Valley on the 373 and then take the 190 through the park. This takes you through Furnace Creek and the part of the park that is below sea level.

Your first day is very similar to our first one and is not a problem. In my opinion your second day is too ambitious unless you do not want to see anything much of Yosemite. You need to factor in driving at 40 mph or so through the Tioga Pass and the park because of traffic, speed restrictions and the convoluted roads. This adds time to the day.

People had me worried about the temperatures in August and we drove through with the air con on and me nervously watching the engine temp and it never moved.

Before they started restricting cars, it would take a half day just to drive through the park. Think of all the big slow motor homes you will be behind. The diesel pushers are specially fun as you get to breathe diesel fumes the whole way. Between November and May the road going through is closed due to snow. There is a fee for driving through and unless you got a camping reservation, do not even think of stopping. Go a bit further north and cut through on 88 or 89 just south of Lake Tahoe. Keep in mind, those close on occasion for snow and you had better have chains with you.

That is a great trip. I'd recommend going through Tahoe though, as you won't see Yosemite Valley unless you back track. That park is slow and crowded all year round.

That trip is great. If you drive highway 1 through Big Sur, and then to LA, before going back to 'Vegas, you will have seen the best that California has to offer. Take your time though...you will want to stop lots and take pictures.

The trip is doable, but not in 2 days! You would have a hard enough time driving from Vegas to Frisco in 2 days going on the freeway. It's a fantastic route, and better to save it for when you have time to actually enjoy the fantastic scenery along the way.

you can do this but plan it so you are not in the mid day heat. it could mess your car up.
