Stay away from those Jags. Too expensive for parts, and it takes too many hours of work to keep them fed! Thirsty buggers. Stay with an old MG or Triumph. Still lot around and you can get parts easily to modify your hot little beast.

Wonderboy, You've got your heart on the wrong car to increase horsepower as available parts are few and far between. Stick to an older Dodge, Chevrolet, or Ford. Performance parts are more suited to your budget. You'll see huge gains if you plan accordingly. Off -shore company owned brand parts are nothing short of outrageous in cost. They don't offer the variety of solid upgraded parts either.

An older Camaro or Corvette is by far the least expensive bang for the buck. They are fairly lightweight and parts are everywhere.

Start cheep. My first car was $25 dollar the 1,275cc motor in the trunk. Get some tools bench and a vice drill. Torque wrench and find a fixer-upper. Older Rover?Check the Car beakers and salvage yards. Triumph? In America we start out with small block V-8engines and automatic transmissions. I also say have a project car and something to drive. Got to earn a living.
