That's pretty fast for a laptop. However, the RAM is also important. Look for at least 1Gb.

Fair. Depends on type of processor. If Celeron, pass it up. That is the minimum speed I would accept since most are now 2.0 or higher dual core. For a good price, go with it. Look at the units on Best Buy and Circuit City sites for comparison.

all depends on what u need it for and if the 1.73ghz is the clock speed for what type of processor i.e. p4 or pentium m if its a p4 will be a little slow but pentium m is ok unless gaming or CAD applications you will need plent of RAM 2GB and a fast hard drive like a SATA 7200 rpm etc etc so the clock speed not all that needs to be considered also check out if the video is dedicated or if its shared memory ......

It's better than 1.6GHz but not as good as 1.8GHz.
For laptop use it should be enough providing you give it enough memory to play with. Look in task manager... almost all the time a 1.6GHz computer is running at less than 10% CPU busy.
And laptops won't run really heavy games apps because the video systems are not up to the demands of games.

Depends on what you want to use it for.
Though pretty much anything you can buy will be good enough for most purposes.
