You can always tell when Republicans are worried about some candidate or public figure or somesuch, by the little nicknames they assign them. Paul's a liberal-lover, McCain is a "Manchurian Candidate", Kerry was a coward (even though he's a decorated War veteran, something GWB can only DREAM about). Some Neos have even referred to GWB as an "ultraliberal" because of that whole recent immigration law BS, which if ANY of the retards who opposed it had actually READ the Bill, they would have SEEN it said not one word about "Amnesty", but that's history at this point.
"Real Republicans" such as Mark Foley? Tom Delay? Alberto Gonzales? Larry Craig? Dick Cheney? Newt Gingrich? Are those "real" Republicans? If so, then as a registered Republican so disgusted with the RNC I will probably NEVER vote Republican again, I WELCOME Mr Paul as the only non-felon candidate on the debate floor.

Unless you are referring to the fact that Ron Paul supports the classical liberalism of John Locke, Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Martin van Buren, Grover Cleveland, and Ludwig von Mises, among others, I don't understand how you can label Ron Paul a liberal. Ron Paul is the most fiscally conservative candidate for president (you don't see such "conservative" stalwarts as Fred Thompson or Mike Huckabee calling for the elimination of the IRS and its replacement with nothing, do you?). He has never voted to raise taxes or against a tax decrease (something he has campaigned on repeatedly over the years, which is one of the main reasons why his district keeps reelecting him despite the anger of the special interests whom he attempts to prevent from parasiting off the public through and the Neocon true believers who hate anybody who can see through their rhetoric, not to mention all the Bushites who supported the Bush-McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill, which Ron Paul was opposed to, even without urging from talk radio).
I think, when you consider the fact that the president's grandpa was a Rockefeller Republican, as was his father (see the Wikipedia article @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockefeller_Republican ), and that Rockefellers supported similar policies to the Neo-Cons and were RINOs, the real question is "How did the RINO Rockefellers succeed in selling themselves to the American people as conservatives?"
Ron Paul is far closer to the positions of Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater than his opponents are (though admittedly, he is to the right of Goldwater and even of Sen. Robert Taft, who proceeded Goldwater as the leader of the Conservative wing of the GOP). He's not the RINO in the election. The RINOs are the people running against him.

I wouldn't call Ron Paul liberal. He's a libertarian. That slips off the right-left spectrum in a way, but his economic policy is further right than any of the the other Republican candidates, to the point of being scary.

Ron Paul is being attacked because he is a threat to the corporate whores and pimps of America. He is the only true American.
You're correct though..he is much too smart to be on stage with the current wanna be's. Did you catch the story about the Uber Republican GWB in Australia.. he was referring the APEC summit as OPEC.. calling the Australians..Austrians.. couldn't find his way off stage and was unable to answer simple questons. He is a true Republican by your definition.

Ron Paul is the best thing to ever happen to Republicans.
He wants to take the party back from the lobbyists, neo-cons, christian lunatics and the AEI.
Sadly, that's why he doesn't stand a chance.

Ron Paul believes in upholding the Constitution and our laws, less government intrusion into peoples lives and to stop taxation without representation. How silly of him.
He should know the republican party now stand for corporations, tax breaks for the rich, open borders and low wages for the illegals so businesses can institute the new form of slavery.

And who made it your job to tell people who, and who are not Republicans?
Just because you don't like what he says gives you permission to throw him out of your party!
You neocons, along with Bush, are really fascists, not Republicans!
