The Portuguese police are bumbling idiots who have messed this case up from day one.
In all fairness, I am pretty sure they would have been treated as suspects much earlier on in the investigation had they been in this country, and cleared much earlier on.
The forensic evidence that has supposedly come to light recently just shows the incompetence of the Portuguese police.
The persistence of the McCanns created so much media attention and put the spotlight onto the Portuguese police and showing all their mistakes early on in the case.....I doubt there is any love lost between the McCanns and the police out there.
I doubt very much they are trying to frame the McCann's beside I don't think they would have the knowledge to be able to do it anyway!!!

People are very very naive and gullible.
The actions of her parents have been 'weird' since day one. Who goes and leaves their children alone to go off and dine at a tapas bar, no mater how 'safe' te place seems to be. You just dont take that sort of risk.
How do you know that her parents are as innocent as they make out???? Dont yu ever think that maybe they are involved. There have been no developments and no body has been found. There has been a massive reward for her return, but noone has come forward.
I think the police know what theyb are doing. This is all based on forensic tests on the blood samples found in the apartment and hire car.
Maybe they hired a car to get rid of the body or something.
(In a case like this, you cant just discard the parents as suspects. It is right that Kate McCann should be treated as a suspect).

It may be something to do with the fact that they had the results of the DNA from the apartment and the McCanns hire car back yesterday. I believe (from what others have said on here) that they have to become a suspect to be asked other questions that they cannot be asked as a witness (something to do with Portugese law). I will await further info before I speculate further, but I do believe there are many things that we have not been told as yet, so much does not add up, but Im sure the truth will out soon!

They found blood in the car the McCanns hired 25 days after the disappearance of Madeleine. The blood has been sent to Birmingham for analysis.
There is NO proof (yet) that the blood found in the hire car is Maddy's. Presumably, this is why they are looking at her as a suspect.

I think the Portuguese police are doing the best they can. Why does everyone only believe she was abducted? There maybe more evidence of her being killed than someone taking her. I'm not saying that they did it, I'm not a detective, but they have lead this case all over the world, so if they do have evidence of her killing her, it could have been away to lead the investigation away from them. I don't believe the police would name her a suspect just because they haven't named anyone yet. That idea is just crazy.
That is what I think.

.The dogs smelled scent of corpses on Kate's clothes and on the trunk of the car they rented AFTER the disappearance. Also there are inconsistencies in the statements. Their upstairs neighbour offered to call the police and they said they had already done so. the truth is they only rang the cops 40 minutes later. the neighbour also disputes the fact that they returned every 40 minutes to check on them .

According to Sky news she's a suspect because traces of Maddie's blood were found in the boot of a car the McCanns hired 25 days after Maddie went missing.

It is partially to give Kate more rights and partially to give the police the right to ask more probing questions. It appears to be standard practise in Portugal to do this when a child goes missing as so many do.

WHAT ABDUCTOR? Now that the mother has become a formal suspect they can ask all those questions they've been longing to ask right from the start, and they're not going to risk making a c ock-up of it all after all this are they ! ! !

What "abductor"? Show me ANY evidence for an abductor, and I will start looking for him/her.
Lay off the Portuguese Police too, perhaps they might have been able to get further more quickly if the McCann's and their friends hadn't lied and contradicted each other in the very beginning.
