sweating can cause irritation and soreness(redness). He either needs to wear something else, or use a non-scented body (deodorant) spray to stop the sweating. Trust this has helped. One other things. He needs to use an ointment or cream to first cure the irritation before he tries to use anything else.

I have a similar problem. My rash is on the inside of my upper thighs among other places. It is a redish rash and is raised and sometimes dry and flaky. It's a common fungus most likely known as Tinia (or Tinea). It's sort of like a yeast infection for a guy. It's incredibly itchy.
He'll need to see a doctor to get a prescription because OTC stuff won't work. They'll most likely give him a prescription for a cream. It'll also help if he keeps the area dry by drying off well after showers and possibly using a medicated powder such as Gold Bond.

sometimes. specially if he sweats a lot and doesn't change his pants and undies often - even with 2 showers a day. further, if the redness has already spreaded out, wearing rough jeans might further irritate the "irritated areas".
when i was still in the construction business, while on site, i sweat a lot and sometimes forgot to change pants. there i experienced that redness and irrirations. so i wash ofter, change my undies very often, like twice a day, and of course change my pants often.

It could very well be a heat rash, get some lose cotton shorts/cargos on at home c if it goes away, cool shower and sudocrem, must be really uncomfy too. Edited: Ugh ! just read first answer, yes , for gods sake clean undies twice a day !
