Quote : But a family friend said: "They are treating Kate McCann as if she is involved in some way in the death of her daughter."
Are they no longer looking for her then? Has a body been found or do they have their own source of information?

viper - I don't give a t*ss who did it just as long as they get them and save it from happening to other kids!
Toietmoi - Why didn't the family friend say "disappearance" instead of death? that's the crux of the question, sounds like a Freudian slip. You will note that there is a question mark at the end of "The McCanns admit that Maddie is dead" That means it's a question.

Thanks for the link Toietmoi - that came out after I posted the question originally. The comment made in the link that I posted was after yesterday's questioning of Kate and at that point no public reference had been made to questions posed regarding blood stains in the hire car. The question mark does make it a question and it is perfectly correct gramatically.
Curious - Excellent point! That's exactly how I was reading the comment, I may be wrong, or not. Hopefully the truth will be uncovered soon and justice done.

The slip up is the same as when that Soham couple were involved in the murders of those two young girls.
Maxine Carr referred to the girls in the past tense when nobody even knew they had been murdered...Mmmm, it makes you wonder doesn't it.

I have been called Pro McCann.......I don't mind being called that.
Before you all start "so its ok to leave your kids routine" please note that I think it was neglectful to leave them.
However, I have seen no facts yet that support the claim that Madeleine was killed by her parents.
I am also amazed that they were not interview as suspects in the beginning of the case, I am pretty sure they would have been in this country. Them being interviewed now, does not mean to me that the police think they are guilty, lets face it, everyone on that camp should have been treated as suspects at some point.
I also heard on the radio that because the McCanns want to go home they are covering the whole story with them before they go, not sure what I believe anymore..
The way I see it, if there was a shred of evidence that they were involved in her death, they would have been arrested immediately.
Media propaganda and clutching at straws springs to my mind.
The way I have made my mind up in this case is by looking at facts, there have been very few. If forensic science proves they were guilty, then thats what they are.
Right now, there is little to support the wild speculation, which has been the case all through this tragedy.
If im wrong im wrong, I will happily hold my hands up, but for now, I am going to wait for an offical press report from the police who will hopefully clear things up either way.
Facts are the only way to get to the truth.

I don't think anyone is saying that Maddie is dead, but by question the McGanns again it is suggesting that maybe she is.
Does this not happen in this country, that the parents of missing children are re-questioned over and over again in case they may remember something however small.
What i don't understand is why leave the kids in a room alone while you went to dinner anyway even though they were near by, does no-one else think it was wrong. If you had done it in England would not they have been under investigation for neglect.
Before anyone says anything, yes I do feel sorry for them, yes they made a mistake and now they are paying a huge price for it. I hope the police leave the McGanns alone but they also need to find out what happened and if questioning them again helps, so be it.

I am shocked and bewildered at how this tragic case has unfolded. I always thought that the parents had nothing to do with Maddies disappearance, I really did. Obviously I agreed that leaving their children alone was totally wrong and completely out of order. Maybe its because I have a daughter and I cant imagine loving parents killing their child (even though I am aware that its not uncommon). I still hope they are innocent...I will be devastated if it comes out that the parents are involved..after all the support they have been given. However, one way or another I hope beautiful little Maddie gets justice!!!!

You don't understand this sentence, do you?
The police were asking Kate some questions suggestive that the police think that Kate is involved in the death of her daughter.
Now, how did you come to the conclusion that the McCanns admitted Maddie is dead?!
------------------------------------
You made a statement” The McCanns admit that Maddie is dead” with a question mark in the end of it. Sorry, the question mark does not make a sentence a question. In fact I think we should get rid of the question mark altogether and rely on grammar.
Portuguese police have suggested to Kate McCann that traces of her daughter Madeleine's blood were found in a hire car the family leased 25 days after the girl went missing.
They are suggesting that she killed her daughter.

The McCanns never admitted that their Madeleine is no more.
In fact, Kate McCann just made an appeal to the abductor to "let her go"...
How on earth can you misquote someone so carelessly in such a tragic case?

I havent heard that bit as yet, i just read on bbc site; Kate McCann - mother of missing four-year-old Madeleine - will be formally declared a suspect by the Portuguese police, the family has said. This is very wiered, put them both on lie detectors.

i think that after a certain amount of time they assume the missing person dead. I believe that they would be right to treat the McCanns as suspects, there is no evidence to prove otherwise.
