(4+9y) /4 multiply by (4+9y)/4

you divide by 4 to get measurement of one side. and since area of square is side x side, so you multiply it by the same expression
= ((4+9y)^2 )/16 = (16 + 72y + 81y^2) /16

Area of square
= [(perimeter)^2]/16
=[(4 + 9y)cm]^2 / 16
= [ 1 + 9y/2 + 81y^2 / 16] cm^2
= [ 1 + 4.5y + 5.0625y^2] cm^2

One side of the square is going to be (4+9y)/4, since all sides are equal length, right?

So, your area is going to be (4+9y)/4 squared -- (4+9y)/4 * (4+9y)/4.

(4 + 9y) / 4 = side of the square

Area = s^2
Area = [(4 + 9y)/4]^2
Area = (81y^2 + 72y + 16) /16
