Does anyone know when the case that occured last year of the 5 prostitutes murdered in Ipswich will go to court? I've heard nothing about it for a long time, mainly because I think people felt as they were prostitues there lives were worth less.
If you dont agree note that all the papers at the time stated that they were prostitues (dead prostitute found) never a dead girl/woman/person!

Curious- I think u make a good point about the headlines, but how could the press/police know that the guy who was killing them was actualy checking if they were prostitutes before killing them.
In the Yorkshire Ripper and Jack the Ripper case he killed women who were 'loose' 'out at night' etc!!

When there's nothing to report, the papers go on to the next story. As soon as the murderer of those women gets a trial date, we will be told.

I too, was aware of the papers using the word "prostitute" each time one of the women were murdered..but now, and after this amount of time, I've had time to think about that.

Think of the panic the following headline would have caused:

Another Woman Killed by Serial Killer

and this one

Another Prostitute Killed By Serial Killer

The first one indicates ALL women should watch out,
the second, only Prostitutes or women out at night, should watch out.

So maybe it wasn't meant in a bad way or to disrespect the women after all.

Edit: A Woman on her way home doesn't walk up and down the street or stand around going up to cars. A prostitute does, so sadly, it would be easy for a killer to target them.

Never forget that newspapers have to sell to be able to print.

I suspect that had they all been teachers it would have "Dead teacher found".

It usually takes about 18 months for cases like this to come to trial.

I don't think the lack of media attention is because they were prostitutes, simply that there is nothing to say at the moment.

Further, unfortunately society as a whole has a 5 minute attention span.

Equally , for their families sake it is better left untrodden until something positive, such as the actual trial, come up.

On 1 May 2007 Wright formally entered a plea of not guilty, the judge indicated the trial would be heard at Ipswich crown court in January 2008.

I think the fact they were prostitutes DOES matter to the story. Not for the reason that you suggest some stories might include it, but it IS relevant to the case.
He was targeting prostitutes. If he had been targeting Traffic Wardens, the headline "Dead traffic Warden Found" would have been written.

In answer to the question, i dont know whats happening with the case, sorry!

Funny you should mention that case now. I was thinking only yesterday, that they pulled one guy in, put his life all over the papers, his job his social life, his home - and he was proved to have nothing to do with it. They did the same with Robert Murat in the McCann case. Last I heard someone was bitching about the cost of the enquiry, what a cheap thing to do. No more details I'm afraid to say.

I don't think it's cause they're prostitutes. I think the trial hasn't happened yet so there's nothing to report on. I guarantee when the guy goes to trial there'll be a big media storm again.
