i know it has a 120g HD and the regular has a 20g but does it play games better as well?

No, consoles never improve on performance even if the circuits and chips are replaced with more efficient ones (like the upcoming 65nm chips). It would play havok with software programmers otherwise!

The performance figures are set in stone.

No they are the same except that the elite looks better to some people depends on your taste and the elite comes with more harddrive space but you can always purchase that seperatly for the original 360.

aside from the HDMI port, the bigger drive, and the snazzy color change, they are almost identical, for now.

sometime soon they will be getting an upgraded chipset, heatsinks, and possibly a quieter dvd drive, but this will happen to all systems at the same time, so it still wont make them that diffrent.
