It's not taboo, it's simply that no one wants to be responsible for anyone going through with it, and somehow that other person gets blamed, or just feels guilt over the whole thing. Plus, it's pre-meditated murder, and that's against the law, and anyone who knows about it can be considered an accessory to the crime. Does that give enough reason to make it an uncomfortable subject?

I wouldn't consider it taboo. It is, however, very uncomfortable for those who have attempted and for those who were involved with someone who has either attempted it or succeeded. A mental illness could be to blame. Lack of esteem another. A tool of manipulation still another. Because all reasons for someone to commit suicide can be altered. It is considered a cowardly way out, giving up without doing all that is possible to make it better. Life is full of hard work and it seems the mental part of it is the hardest. Nothing is set in stone except a headstone!
the worst part of it all is that many, many suicide attempts were not so the person would die. It was their cry for attention. There really aren't many suicides that were planned to have an end result of death.
My husband committed suicide. He miscalculated how soon someone would be able to discover him before it was too late.

It is a taboo because people don't want to talk about and those who are victims of it are ridiculed and told that they are selfish for thinking it and should pull themselves together. How does a person pull her/himself together when she/he is ill?
Has it occur to any one that individual who contemplate or commit suicide have a mental problem? As a survivor I can admit it is a selfish act as you don't think about those who you will leave behind and how it will affect their lives, but when you are in that situation you don't even think about yourself, let alone anyone else. People who commit suicide feel that they have tried everything else and they have failed and see suicide as an easy option.
Now I've recovered and has got help and I know there is help out there. One has to go and seek it., as it does not come and find you.
I'll also stressed that since my recovery, I've made it my mission to help those who fall into this unfortunate situation.

Suicide could be suggested yet no longer an option. I dont think of by way of fact somebody is depressed and has no longer something to look forward to that's a reason to blow their brains out. Noone is familiar with what the destiny holds, issues substitute and so do circumstances. you need to be in a dumpster for years and somebody comes alongside, once you think of it is no longer attainable and take you out. I dont belive you are able to kill your self considering which you dont like your existence. If that have been the case, homicide may well be ok by way of fact it may well be alright to kill the those that have no longer something to look forward to as an occasion. you're better off being a hermit somewhat than killing your self, it is going to save human beings the mess.

people dont understand and dont want to either. It shouldnt be a taboo subject the reality is it does happen and people do think about it and it would help if it were brought out into the open so people dont suffer in silence, lives could be saved

If anyone I knew talked about this I would be worried
Private thought is one thing, like thinking about what it would be like to be godzilla or be invisible
Bringing this into the real world in the form of discussion with another is taking it to a different level altogether
On another matter any society that openly accepted suidide would have to be a VERY weird place indeed

Is it taboo? I discuss it often, especially on here.
But no, most people dont think about it regularly. Every once in a while, probably.

Its taboo in the same way that all indications of mental illness or instability are taboo; people are afraid of what they don't understand, and so they dissociate themselves from it publicly.

We may or may not think about it regularly, but the people who really know all about it are the ones who have succeeded, and they are generally not great conversationalists!!!
