My partner and I fought and I had enough of his behaviour so I told him that I'm going off and all he said was "Later."

I feel like ______ing him! Grr.

Sounds a little cold. I hope if you ever ask him if he loves you he doesn't say, "You a'ight". Then you really got to wonder about his feeling for you. You are too lively for an emotional corpse.

I don't feel inadequate, I do go out and do things on my own, and I've never given a thought to whether or not others thought it odd that I was single (and have been for the better part of the past decade). I'd love to have a parter to share life with, but my life isn't miserable without one.

Don't take it so seriously, we say stuff just because most of the time, we don't feel every single word that comes out of mouths. Of course, given the situation he must have been a bit mad so he just that. I'll tell you what you thought: "he did it just to spite me"; now what he thought was: "Yeah right, go now and we'll forget about it"
Am I a psychic or a blithering idiot. I'm inclined for the second one, right?

It depends:

Life partner Maybe

Business partner No

Dance partner Yes

Sports\recreation\shoping partner Yes

Partner in crime No (actually that is very bad form )

In your case it was not that bad given you all were in a tiff.

My personal opinion is that is at least slightly disrespectful in a relationship. I do not tolerate disrespect in my relationship. My behavior earns it, therefore it is mine. Same goes for my partner; as long as he earns it, I give him my respect. I can't picture saying 'later' to him. (Oh, but his reaction would probably have me laughing my *** off!)

all i can say is, find someone else who finds it painful to even say the word "later" to you. it's insensitive of your partner to just tell "later" and walk out when he knows very well that something's bothering you.

my love and me take 5 minutes before we can even say the final goodbye/good night. he never lets me sleep till we make up. it's mushy, but it feels right that way.

Don't put up with emotionally-sterile people for too long, hon... I did for almost 9 years and i felt like I was dying inside day after day, until I met Rob....

You are still so young. Run while you still can!

Sorry for the emotional response!
Hugs to you xxx

"Later" is a way of stalling further action. Wouldnt it be loads better to say later now than to regret worse words spoken in anger?

You were both fighting and when people fight they sometimes say things they don't mean. Any way I wouldn't take it to seriously. After all it's just a word.

PS. I hope you two make up.

"Would you like to go to the matinee movie or a later one?"
