Kate a possible official suspect.

what do you guys think about this whole thing? I know she has not been proven guilty yet but you have to admit that it is a little strange that she was interviewed for 11 hours... and as a witness, what did she "witness" that needs to be explained for 11 hours? Do you guys really still believe that they are both completely innocent despite the sudden change of events?

The police said they were "satisfied" with the results...and then all of a sudden Kate and Gerry are hauled in seperately for "Witness questioning"...does such a thing even exist!!

Are you all still adamant that there is absolutely no chance in hell that they had anything to do with the disappearance of their daughter?

So I guess my real question is....are you all still THAT niave?

Could people please read the question properly. I specifically said that they were not definately guilty!!

And Tabby, if I saw a car crash I would be the first person helping! Might I remind you that you are also watching this "car crash"!!

I can understand the anti's being up beat about recent developments and the pro's being slightly subdued. However, I think it would be wise to wait a little longer before any celebrations take place.

Why has kate been made Aguido - Well probably because the McCanns expressed a wish to leave Portugal and by making them Aguido, the police can ensure they remain

Why are they being interviewed individually - No police force in the western world hold collective interview to tell people they are suspect.

Why did it take 11 hours. - Everything that was asked and answered had to be written down long hand in Portugese, it then had to be translated into English and re-read to Kate. It then had to be altered for emphasis and content etc, and then re-read to Kate and possibly even altered several times after untill Kate was happy that what had been said was fairly written in the statement.

Why is Gerry being called - Dont forget that in the Rhys Jones case there is something like 16 or 17 people who have been questioned and released on police bail. It is what police forces do to keep their options open. We in the UK dont have "Aguido" staus but we do have "Bail Conditions" which serve the same purpose.

STOP - Before anyone starts calling me "ANTI" or "PRO", I am neither, I dont paticularily care who commited this crime, it doesn't matter who commited this crime, what matters is that the culprit is caught and it really is the culprit.

In answer to your question, yes it really is a strange case, no I am not naive, I really would like to know the outcome, but from experience i really would like to see the justified outcome whoever it may be.

What so many of you are failing to catch here is the word SUSPECT , It does not mean she did anything , It doesn't make her guilty , Only a court can find her guilty .

I am not a Fan , I suppose I have been labelled by others as a hater , But I'm big enough to take that name if I have to .

From the start of this whole case I thought there was a lot more to it than what it seemed . My only sigh of relief is that the police have now pulled the parents in and have named 1 as a suspect this should have been done in the first week .

Wait and see what happens ,

I had a feeling something was not right since day one. I mean what loving parents in their right mind would neglect their own flesh and blood. To me they have been guilty of child neglect since day one, but the news I got today on ITV and BBC at lunch time has me stunned. I just hope justice will be done for Madeleine.

I just hope it all gets sorted out asap, cant be fair on the other 2 kids really. Ive been on the whole 'maybe theyre guilty' side since the beginning and now I believe that even more. Bit of a coincidence that they bring them in just asfter they get those lab results eh?

I'm naive!! I've always thought they were shocking parents and I blamed them for leaving the children but I never thought of Kate as a suspect, Gerry YES but never Kate. Mind you I still believe in the tooth fairy!!

Under the circumstances both parents should have been suspects right from the start - it has nothing to do with whether you think they have done something or not. I think the Portugese police have been exposed as being somewhat lacking in investigation technique.

I am naive enough to believe in innocent until proven guilty. I cannot answer your other questions, because I don't know. I do know that Robert Murat underwent the same thing and he has never been charged.
Shall we wait and see? It might be she is innocent, in which case she has been wronged. And if she is guilty, then the truth will out. But in the meantime, do remember that there is a little girl still missing. To date, no body has been found.

I think we still have to wait for all the facts to be disclosed before we start judging them. They obviously have new evidence which need to be verified. I still believe that they are innocent. If they had done something to Maddy, you have to ask yourself why do it on holiday in a foreign land?, why make it so high profile?, why keep this in the media for so long? why start a fund to find Maddy? surely if they had something to do with it, they would have left everyone to forget about it after a short time as it would have done naturally, as it does with all the hundreds of other children that go missing around the world everyday.
Lets wait for the facts shall we.

I agree with Caesar's Wife.
Am naive enough to believe in the old adage "Innocent until proved guilty".
Tabbyfur & Saturn say it best...
And yup, i don't believe there is a chance in hell that they had anything to do with their Madeleine going missing.

Edit: I think Stephen above deserves a star...Well said!
