I've been in Micronor POP for 6/7 weeks and it's been great until last night. I know some spotting and irregularity is common but does this settle down after about 3 months or should i try something like cerazette instead?

My last period was on the 24th August for 5 days and was heavy which is not normal as they were 3 days and light before i went on the pill but i expected changes like that, and last night i started spotting. Just a tiny amount but i still had stomach cramps.

Will this settle down in a few weeks or should i change it now?

The family planning centre is only open on Wednesday's and I don't get much sense out of them, otherwise I'd ask there.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not pregnant so it's not implantation bleeding.

You will not really find any functional difference switching to Cerazette. All progesterone only pills should come withe the same warning. For the first 3 months, and occasionally longer, most women will experience dysfunctional ( irregular ) bleeding. In the unlucky this might mean dribbling for the whole time! On the plus side by the end of one year 70% of women will stop having periods all together.

Personally I would have choosen Cerazette in the first place as it has a much easier 12 hour safety window, which compares with the combined pill, whereas Micronor has to be taken within 2 hours of your chosen time.

Spotting is a common side effect with the pill such as those that are progesterone only and should start to settle down soon (like over the next couple weeks).

I would go ahead and check with the clinic as well next Wed and then ask them who covers for them the rest of the week if someone has questions or an emergency situation. Also, let the nurse or doctor there know that you don't always understand what they are saying and could they please slow down.
