Yes it is legal. It costs money, though. And Emmibella sounds absolutely stupid. She should stick with Haley. If she is going to change her name, then she should be a lot older. At thirteen, you tend to choose stupid names that sound stupid and immature to adults (i.e. Emmibella)... If for some reason she actually does change her name, then she should change her name to a more mature name that would help her in the business world as an adult (i.e. Catherine, Elizabeth, Margaret, Teresa, Rose, Ruth... ANYTHING BUT Emmibella)

If She Hasn't Picked Out A Name Already & Started To Go By It Yet To See If She Enjoys It, Why Are You Asking...That's The 1st Step.

In NY (I Don't Know Where You Live) It Costs About $300, If Your Under 18 You Need Your Parents Consent, Also You Need To Tell The Public In The News Paper That Your Changing Your Name.

As a 13 year old I'm pretty sure she would need her parents' consent to legally change her name. But she could always just start going by a different name and change it legally when she's old enough to do it herself. I like the name Hayley so I don't think she should change it. lol.

She should only change her name if it is ugly and horrible and Hayley is a beautiful name.
Its probably just a faze she is going through, she will probably want people to call her some other name for a few weeks but then she will get over it.

i'm not sure where you live and what the law is over there , but, I live in Australia . and my little sister got her name changed when she was only 16 , of course she had to have our mother's consent and she had to be there with her to sign forms saying she approved of it... if her mother doesn't want to sign the forms she will have to wait until shes 18. it cost her around $160 to have her name changed , 4 years ago, the price may have gone up since then .

I agree with the poster above, Hayley is a very pretty name.

I like the name Hayley.

If she really likes the name Emmibella, she can change her name when she's 18. A lot of growing up happens between ages 13 and 18...I don't know if Emmibella is going to be at the top of her list five years from now.

i think she would have to have her parents change it for her through the court. proper papers have to be filed with social security, health department, etc. after it goes through the court. it's a long, tedious process.

emmibella is just hideous!!! i like the name hayley. i think it's just a phase. at some point in life, just about all of us have disliked our names.

It is legal, but I don't think Emmibella is nice. Hayley is better. No offense, just... Emmibella sounds weird, and, i'm sorry to say... stupid.
