She's THE main suspect now....... And. In the vast vast vast vast majority of cases it is the mother who does do it. Well, her or nearly as often the 'boyfriend'....... It's almost never the natural father....... But, did the woman do it?

Whilst fathers do a *little* of that they still nowhere near 'take out' the same numbers as do mothers. And, if women had no rights to love and protect their children [as is the case with fathers] then one has to wonder just what would happen to their minds? You think women wouldn't go a little wonky too?......... You know they would.!!

There's a lot of "we don't know enough..." going on here. I can't help but wonder, would the same answers be so forthcoming if it were the father under scrutiny?

BTW, put 'em up... I've seen the stats that you refer to, that single mothers account for the majority of child abuse/murder whlie the bio father accounts for the absolute lowest numbers.

We (the public) do not have nearly enough evidence in in this case in order to draw a conclusion. All we really know is that police wanted to question her further, and to do so they were required to make her an official suspect. We also know that the questioning came about just after reports came back from the forensic testing that was done. We don't know exactly what she was questioned about, or why. We can only speculate that the police may have discovered something incriminating (incriminating toward whom, we do not yet know) from those tests. It doesn't look good, but that's hardly enough to say whether she's guilty or innocent. Until the girl (or her body) is found, we don't even know the true extent of the crime(s) involved in this case. I'm sure there are facts that the authorities have, that they are not going to release to the public. (This tactic is used to help police positively identify the suspect (s), and it helps the accused receive a fairer trial.) We'll have to wait and see how this develops. I pray they find the little girl, alive and safe. Tragically, as time goes on, however, it looks less and less likely.

EDIT: As of today, BOTH of her parents have now been named formal suspects after traces of the little girl's blood was found in the couple's rental car. This new development looks very incriminating for both of them.

I don't know all the facts in this case. It sounds like the investigators are trying to cut a deal with her. It appears that one or both parents were involved in the disappearance of that little girl. The whole story has sounded fishy from the beginning. A little girl doesn't just disappear from an upscale resort which probably has adequate security and with her parents dining nearby. Somebody did something to her and the other person tried to cover it up.

It is not for anyone to stand and be judge and jury in a case as complex as this one or for that matter any case.
Portuguese Law is very different to UK law.
All people can do is wait, however I draw your attention many years ago of the mother jailed by The Australian Judiciary who accused her of killing her daughter when the mother claimed the child had been taken by a dingo( Wild dog).
This woman spent 7 years incarcerated and was freed when the authorities found the body of her daughter in the outback and it had be taken and savaged by a dingo.
I rest my case.

it's very difficult to judge as of now. perhaps we need to get more details and not based only on our own opinion. she's just a suspect. we should always remember what the law said "innocent UNTIL proven guilty" and not the other way around.

Like he said, there are too many unknown details, but I do have to disagree with you about Dads; they may not take one child's life as often, but they will more often take out the entire family (including the wife). Both are very capable of nastiness....
