I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am and I have had to have the water outlet housing replaced 3 times since Febuary. Each time its replaced its always shredded to pieces. i wanted to know if something else may be causing my coolant leak. This last time I had the thermostat replaced as well. Just yesterday the low coolant light came on AGAIN. I don't know what to do now. Pls Help
Should I just get rid of the damn thing before something major happen
I have spent almost 1500 dollars in repairs this year.

The outlet housing wasn't 500 but 200 a pop. The rest was spent on tires, rotators, fuel pump, brake pads, etc all which were done this year. I have had this car for 4 years now

$500 a pop for water outlet housings is expensive. I have to wonder if your mechanic is doing the job properly. Trade it or keep it - it doesn't really matter. If you don't look under the hood often enough to avoid having the idiot lights come on, any car will give you trouble.

you may desire to purchase electric powered outlet covers from any ironmongery save, yet you may could desire to ask the clerk to be sure in the event that they're easily water-tight. yet another selection is to cut back off the circuit breaker it is linked to that particular outlet, if the room is seldom used or if the breaker purely controls some circuits interior the room. the only different selection that i will think of of is to have an electrician first cut back the potential to the room, then manually get rid of the opening, then cap the wires with twine-nuts, and then conceal the hollow with a sparkling conceal. As you will see, those concepts selection from least difficult to costliest. Haha. purely make particular to consistently turn off the circuit breaker till now doing something so which you do not harm your self.

There are several sites that sell aluminum and cast iron thermostat housings that are more substantial than the standard issue: speedwaymotors.com, performancebodies.com, behrents.com, howeracing.com.
Check the flatness of the surface where the housing bolts to the intake manifold. Some of these outlets from these places may not line up in the same spot. you'll need to replace the top radiator hose with a ribbed flex top hose that allows you to bend it in any direction you want.

Patch it one more time and trade it. Sounds like you got a lemon.
