I bought a motherboard today, and it came without spacers or risers to seperate the motherboard from the case. What can I use to replace them, that is found around the house?

OK, I loved the answers about wine corks and carboard.....BUT

Go back to the shop that sold you the MB, explain to them that you didn't get them, they should hand you some and you'll be fine.

This is NOT something to rig up.....:)

Buy standoffs. They should have come with the case. Only about 3-4 bucks for a set! Your board must be at the right height so the ports will fit thru the I/O plate on back of case. Don't mess around making spacers unless you want to have issues with board shorting or grounding out!

I would NOT install the motherboard with out them and make sure you get the washers too without them you could short out you board. Go back and get them, I don't know where you bought your board but I always made sure you had these things when I had my shop, I also would have asked you if you had done a board installation before ? I would explain to you how to do it and if your not sure call me. You only have a one time shot at this because if you short out the motherboard that's a costly mistake over something like motherboard washers. gl

i dont think that you can find them around the house...
i advice you to go back to the shop where you buy your motherboard and ask them for the riser...
this is because, if the riser did not match you motherboard, your motherboard have a high risk of get broke...

Cut a piece of cardboard the size of the motherboard and that will work fine..you can cut holes in the cardboard at the places where the screws will go down into the case..
