Can obstacles awaken the inherent abilities of a person to make him great?

"Several years ago I suffered from an attack of tennis elbow so intense that I couldn't even hold a pencil (forget trying to use it). As an artist and writer, this could have caused me a lot of mental anguish since I could not do the two things which are most important to me. Instead, I tried composing into a tape recorder instead of doing it longhand (which is still, BTW, my preferred method). And I tried drawing left-handed. I was very satisfied with both alternatives".

Depends how you cope with your failures...
If you learn a lesson from you failures, or if you 'get back up' after failing, yeah it makes you stronger.
But some people only get less confident, depressed and sad.

Oh Yeah! All those difficult things make you stronger :) Breakups, Deaths, Fights, etc. you learn to adopt another attitude so you won't get so hurt anymore...stronger--definitely :)

Though it's generally not realized but failures are great teachers as well as learning experiences. The key result area is, 'avoid the same mistakes'.

Not the failure itself, but what we learn from it.
