My friend recently bought a 8600GTS-OC from Newegg. The card works fine until he runs a video or 3D application. The screen gets full of green doted blocks all over and in some cases, it crashes. He tried a good bit of drivers and nothing solves the problem. Please help as he bought the card in the states but we live in Trinidad, so sending it back to the manufacturer would be a very last resort.

That card could draw up to 4.5 amperes on the +12V rail of the power supply. Does your power supply have at least 18 amperes on the +12V rail? If not, better upgrade your power supply.

First, check the website of the video card manufacturer and see whether there is any update. If there is, download and install it.

Next, check Nvidia website and look for the latest driver. Download that and install it as well.

The last round I encounter almost the same problem as your friend except that my computer straight away crashed and restart itself whenever I play intensive graphic games. But after updating the driver from Nvidia website, everything works fine!!!!

GOOD LUCK friend!
