The real question here is, can you find a war that did NOT have a religious component to it?

Almost all wars have a religious overtone to them. I can tell you that throughout history, the biggest battles happened after Christianity became a major religion in Europe. The Crusades, where thousands of muslim people died. The Spanish inquisition would be considered a war against anyone who believed differently than the church. The biggest war right now is the Jihad, or the terrorist attacks that have been happening more frequently here recently. They have been going on for more years than I can remember, so this war now may be the biggest religious war there is.
But really don't want to write a book here, just let it be sufficient to say that the most bloody or wars were religious in nature. Not the taking over of land, or for oil, but more a "my belief is the correct belief, and what you believe is wrong" wars.

A lot! Pretty much every war has some religious motivation behind it. I'd say the major religious wars would be the Crusades, The 30 years war, and The seven days war.
