Hi Cherona !
How are you?
You can use homemade Mosquito Traps, here's how you can make it:
(1) Cut off the top of an empty two litre bottle (like the normal round coke bottles). Cutting just above the label is ideal.
(2) Mix 50grams of brown sugar with 200ml of hot water and let it cool to 40 degrees celcius.
(3) Add 1 gram of yeast (no need to stir) and replace the top of the cut bottle upside down to create a funnel. (4) seal the sides of the container and wrap with black paper.
Explanation:
The fluid mix creates carbon dioxide which attracts mosquitoes and the black wrap makes it dark to help attract them too. The yeast will have the greatest affect at around 40 degrees celcius and the sugar water will make the mosquitoes sticky so they can get out. Mosquitoes are too dumb to realise where they came in from so they will die inside.
Also google "homemade mosquito trap" you will find lot of ideas.

You probably have a problem with more than 1 mosquito if you are getting multiple bites. Once a mosquito (only females bite, btw) bites you it will generally try to find a safe place nearby to rest, in which case you can smack it and get blood everywhere, but it will die. Skin-so-soft brand body oil will keep them away and it doesn't stink too much and doesn't have any harmful chemicals like other bug deterrent sprays. Your best bet is to keep them from getting in your house. Try to keep slow moving or stagnant water away from your house because this is where they breed.

Before I go to bed at night I go to each window and check for mosquitos on the inside of the screens and kill them. For some reason them seem to want out of the house as badly as you want them to be, too.

There are those lights that zap them when they fly into them. I dont really think you can use a trap unless your the bait :P Just squash it when it comes near you or if you feel the bite squash it. And make sure its a mosquito and not something in your bed.

there is a device i don't think was mentioned yet exactly. although it is a bug zapper this version looks like a tennis racquet and has a metal screen on it and takes batteries. you swing it in the air and it electrocutes the bugs and it is really fun, it makes a pop noise and pretty much blows them up. it also works on wasps and moths and flys and is good to use because you don't have a dirty wall to clean up after swatting them. for big jobs a bigger stationary zapper as previously mentioned works good

mosquitoes are not attracted to sugar or honey.
they are attracted by carbon dioxide
If you can stand in a well lit room and shut off all fans[including a/c] you have a high probability of attracting, seeing and killing.
If you have and repellent with DEET, it will also attract, but it will not land.
