I think tan skin indicates that the person actually gets outside and is active in the sunshine, athletic, outgoing, healthy and happy!

good question!! Although I do think tan skin is prettier. I really think it's because when you are tanned your skin tone level looks more even and less blemishes show up. I've wondered this very same question many times and that's all I can come up with

I like the look of healthy skin not overly-tanned, skin which looks like a turkey on thanksgiving.

Well, it sure doesn't look good on people my age (late 40s). By then, the sun damage really shows and people who spent too much time out in the sun when they were younger have ugly black freckles and leathery skin.

i think it relates to what we all fear...death. paleness is always associated with sickness. less life. zombies, dead bodies, vampires. pale skin. who likes pale skin? the goth chicks do, and they're into death. i know from experience. i'm practically glow in the dark. i'd love to be able to get a tan. people react differently to you.

I think in many sport competitions appeared many tan skin winners in running, soccer, swimming, and many of them have the aesthetic looks. Many guys like Indo girls who has big eyes and slim bodies.

Honestly I like any skin color as long as it's smooth to the touch. I can't stand rough skin, icky.
