It is to make the alarm go off an hour early so you can go for a run before work, the opposite of a snooze alarm. Ok I made that up.

The real answer is your clock has a program to set the alarm for each day of the week and you can either run the alarm or turn it off. See the picture below.

it let's you tap that button so when it starts blaring off or something of that sort it gives the alarm clock a chance to run, it's tiny legs will emerge from it's hidden place and sprint off the desk or wherever it sits upon so you won't slap it around or toss it to the ground and etc?

No idea, but you should hold on tight if you test it out. Don't want your alarm clock to get away.
