New Edition and Jodeci:

N.E. - they redefined the concept of the r&b boy band, succesfully transitioned from Boys to Men ( in terms of their vocal range/ ability and lyrical content), continue to be an inspiration to existing r&b acts (e.g. Boyz II Men were largely influenced by them as their name is derived from N.E.'s " Boys to Men" song and up-and-comers, they be in the game for a really long time and can adapt to the way in which the music is shifting and still remain true to signiture N.E. sound. The also great live performers ( their dance moves are always on point). Boyz II Mens defining characteristic lies within soulful harmony. Both groups can effortlessly perform a ballad as well as lay it down a cappella style. They are both also good at doing up-tempo/party songs. But, New Edition is the better group by far although these veterans seems to be a bit underated on a mainstream.

Jodeci was also a good group in their time, there is no doubt about that. The group surfaced during the new jack swing era but were very unique in their approach by taking it one step further to belt out soulful tunes over beats that were typically reserved for hardcore rappers. As well, they also merged elements of other genres into their music such as guitar solo and strong backbeats that are often heard in rock music. There was nothing traditional about Jodeci's serving of R&B as it was more edgy/hardcore than even that of trademark sound of the new jack swing. Jodeci's flare bring to to different level than that of New Edition since Jodeci saw everything that came before and went against every single element of contemporary r&b - creating their path as opposed to living in the constraints of someone else's ideology of what r&b is. Jodeci was able to belt out soulful ballads such as their cover of Stevie Wonder's "Lately." Jodeci had hot production and a great sound. Jodeci was also one of the best groups of the three because they pushed the boundaries and redefined r&b yet again. They sound and appearance was sorta street yet sweet or smooth. Like New Edition, Jodeci was also inspirational to other r&b acts such as Dru Hill, Jagged Edge who both try to incorporate that edgy soulful, bad boy sound that was Jodeci into their own music and image.

My favorite group of the 3 was Jodeci. But I would have to say New Edition was the best group because they spun off Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Bell Biv Devoe and Johnny Gill.

New Addition all the way. Boyz II Men were always sad and Jodeci just wanted to take their clothes off...although I did like alot of their videos.

Personally my favorite goes to New Edition / Bell,Biv,Devoe They've been around the longest & have the most hits of the 3.My second choice is Jodeci. 3rd is Boys II Men with It's So Hard To Say Goodbye,On Bended Knee & I'll Make Love To You ,The Baby Face Produced Medley version is smokin'.Most of Boys II Men songs are like sad melancholy blue type of songs.

Jodeci because of their bad boy image. Boys II Men because of their soulfulness. New Edition because of their style.

How can you ask me to choose? To me, they are all completely different.

New Edition is the bubblegum stuff you loved as a kid and still listen to when it comes on the radio. It's fun and nostalgic.

Boys II Men was romantic, love song, yo uwish your crush in high school would dedicate the song on the radio to you. You belt it out in your bathroom to hairbrush, etc.

Jodeci was that freaky kinky sh*t that your momma didn't want you listening to, but you did and pretended to be sexy while singing it!

Different styles, can't be categorized. For real!

NEW EDITION!!!!

They are very similar to the early groups like the temptations, the jackson five, the four tops, and all of those other groups from the motown days. When New Edition perform they are always insync with each other, they are very organized and have a lot of class. They put a lot of effort into their rehersals and performances. They do not run around back and forth across the stage like fools or just stand around. They are a very traditional group and that is why they always get standing ovations when they perform. They wear nice suits and shoes and they harmonize very well with each other. New Edition is very close to perfect in their performances.
