It's that time for me again to upgrade my PC as slow as my pocket can take me.
I'm currently running a Pentium 4 3.2GHz processor with only a gig of ram which I'm planning to increase to 2 before my graphics upgrade.
My current graphics card is a XFX GeForce Fx5200 128MB AGP.
I've got my eye on the XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB AGP.
Is this a wise choice, or could I get something better for the money (around £85)?

Hi - to Coldfire, I use my computer for video editing, casual web surfing and high end graphics gaming. :-)

5200 to 7600GT is a great upgrade. You didn't mention what you generally use your computer for, but a friend has the 7600GT in a similar computer to yours and is able to play the new BioShock game. In my opinion, the 7600GT is probably the best AGP card available.

In response to your additional details, the 7600GT should be perfect for your needs.

Check whether your mother board has the capability for AGP support before making your purchase. If so, buy a good one with more memory like the 256 MB go that i would take more time to out date itself. Nowdays all the modern games/software need more RAM. Down the line in a year we may see game with 256 MB support which would save your budget. So plan for the best thinking about the future.

I vote for XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB AGP.

All the best ..

Depends on what kind games are you trying to play on it.

If you want to play the latest games, then I suggest the GeForce 8600GT video cards as they support DirectX10 in the near future.

But if you do not have any more budget, then the 7600GT is good enough.

Add a bit more to your budget and you could have an awesome upgrade to the 7900GS AGP here:
