My step daughter is 18 and a senior in high school. Papers say pay during the remainder of the child's minority. Is that 18? Or is that end of high school?

Filed in state of Louisiana. No other information in the document on her age but that. Was filed through private lawyers not through the state.

It means "until she reaches the age of majority", which is 18. However, since she is still in school, the Court and/or program you have your payments set up with may have you pay until she graduates.

My divorce papers said same, and my son turned 18 before school got out; made me pay 'til he graduated. They also considered "dinging" me for payments as long as he lived at home and went to college, but he didn't do that, so I was "off the hook".

Best to call the Department that you send your support to/through and have them send you written information as to what they do and how they do it so you won't be guessing.

SHOULD BE STIPULATED IN COURTS ORDER--
1)FINDING OF FACTS
2)CONCLUSION OF LAW-

USUALLY IT WILL SAY "UNTIL EMANCIPATION (18-19- DEPENDING ON STATE LAW) OR UNTIL GRADUATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN THE ORINARY COURSE OF SCHOOLING" THEN THE ORDER CAN BE MODIFIED TO READ OR UNTIL GRADUATION FROM COLLEGE OR 24 YEARS OF AGE WHICH EVER COMES FIRST.--GOOD LUCK--I PAID OUT OVER $102,000 FOR MY 4 KIDS SUPPORT AND ALSO TO GO TO SCHOOL AND AM PROUD OF IT ALL FOUR HAVE GOOD JOBS AND THANK MOM FOR EVERYTHING
