Is this just a warning shot, or did they just not like having too many orange badges out and about?

Well I for one think that orange badge was probably slowing the top contributors down, you had to turn sideways to get through a door when you came over honey.
It would be sad day when Yahoo does away with Polls and Surveys but nobody would put it past those sly little devils to do it!

I think they will keep it, just to keep the rowdy folks in one centralized hoppin' place.

I have to say that I've seen some of the most obnoxious behavior on here displayed by "Top Contributor" badge people. Answers which were insults, swearing, or just plain wrong. I wish they'd kill the badges.

yes though what would be good would be those who are mean when they answer to be docked ten points in punishment . idea thought up from points taken each time question asked. they do say the question has to be good to really dig into it before answering. they do inform people that to regain the lost points they can answer more questions. they also limit number of charcters in question inform people to follow community guidelines and stop people short if to many use or not give enough room to ask top part of question . know this not place to mention just thought since suggestions do not always work in usual placeseeing them somewhere else might

Nah. They just think we are a bunch of yoohoos frittering away our time. Sounds about right to me. I was a proud recipient of one of those orange strips for 2 weeks. Ahhh the memories.

Just speculating here, maybe they figured out too many buddies were awarding buddies best answer and about 2/3 of the questions has nothing to do with entertainment.

they probably will get rid of it

I know what it was though, people from P&S doing raids on other categories and showing off their TC badges got all the others pissed off because they didn't have one, so they had to go run and cry.
