I know the whole "no white" shoes after Labor Day until Easter supposedly.. but does that apply to purses too? I want to wear this pretty blouse from New York and Company that is all Navy with white and other colored polka dots and navy pants, .. and some navy shoes and a white leather purse that will match the white in the shirt... will that look good?
I don't own a navy purse to wear with it.. and I think the white would look good but just feel weird wearing it now that it's September.

haha we were just talking about this same topic last night. i am currently carrying a large, white chloe bag and intend to continue carrying it on till xmas or beyond. White used to be a faux pas after labor day, years ago. But recently, white became a widely popular color for winter as well. They refer to it as "winter white" when it gets chilly and it can be paired with just about any other subtle color. I would agree that navy pants and navy shoes would be a little excessive and would drown out your bottom half, so a brighter color (i would suggest RED or yellow) would look far better as far as shoe color. maybe if the top is a little dressier, try red flats?

anywho, i would def still carry the white bag!! just make sure the hardware on the bag, be it gold or silver, coordinates w the jewelry youll be wearing that evening. good luck!

I do not know anyone who follows the "no white after Labor Day" rule. The outfit sounds cute though. You could also pull out on of the other colored polka dots by wearing shoes or accessories of the same color.

I have learned that the fashion gurus have decided that the no-white-after-labor-day rule is out the window, and you can wear white shoes and accessories year round.

where whiteis fine as long as the material or shoe/purse style matches the season. for ex. white linen pants don't work for fall or winter because linen is a spring summer fabric . Get It?

That whole white shoe thing is no longer the "fashion" thing. Now you can wear what you want. That no white shoe trend has been gone for years. Catch up. You can wear white whenever you want now.

I think you should wear what you want.

If you really don't feel right about the white purse, though, how about brown? Your purses don't always have to match your outfit perfectly.
