Every woman is different. You could have the baby tomorrow or go past your due date. You cannot feel your cervix thinning although at some point you should notice the loss of the mucous plug.
Labor length is not affected by how fast or slow your cervix thins. You can have sex if you want-sometimes it helps the cervix open. Your husband needs to come inside you-the magic ingredient is in his sperm.
Good luck!

It is a good thing, Your body is doing work that some bodies don't do untl they go to the hospital. If your baby has dropped & engaged you might be close to labor. But, babies have their own agenda so hang in there.
Droped means that she is lover in your belly
Engaged means she is head down and moving down the Pelvic area. You might get feelings of the baby's head pushing through your pelvic area. This is all good. You can be 100% and baby hasn't dropped enough to be delivered, but gosh you have done alot of things.
I can explain thinning of the crevix like this.
Imagine a thick turtle neck that if you put your head through this is tight and the turtle neck needs to stretch and thin as it stretches in order to get your head through it. Consider your cervix as the turtle neck at the base of your uterus. It is very thick and so tight that it seems like it is closed. Then you take a basket ball and start to shove it through that tight - thick turtle neck....it will stretch getting thinner while the basket ball moves through it. Well, the baby is the basket ball the cervix is the turtle neck. If you are 60% that is good for you. If the baby is dropping it is better.
Your labor might be shorter. I have always told my patients to literally visualize their cervix as a turtle neck and the head pushing through it. Visualization is an amazing tool. Then when you have out of your mind contractions....take a deep breath...imagine you are on the biggest wave on the planet and you HAVE to ride that wave relaxed of you will drown.
This visualization works great.
I did this myself with my babies......they were all close to 9 pounds. And my labor went quickly considering. Also I only had to push around four times and they were out.
You can fight the labor pains or you can relax and give them the power to deliver the baby.
This is the most amazing experience that a woman can go through. YOU are part of creation. You have grown a human inside of you and your body is ready to bring this precious baby into the world. At the time the process is a challenge. But, it is well worth it when you hold that little miricle in your arms.

Your labor may begin within the next few days to a week. As the cervix is thinning it is also dilating (opening up). The combination of the two things need to happen. Your baby also needs to come down (the head needs to be engaged in the pelvis). It is possible to be dilated and thinned out, but the baby still be up high. When you cervix is 100% thinned out (effaced) you will be having your baby; and believe me you will know. This will not happen though without first being in labor. When your contractions are regular, every 10 min. or regular every 5 min.; depending on what your doctor told you,for one hour, call him/her. Also, if your water breaks, call right away.

It is good news for you, but doesn't mean at all that labor is close, or how short or long your labor will be.
No, unfortunately you can't make it thin or dilate faster :-) Most first time moms are close to 100% effaced (thinned) by the time they get to the hospital at the beginning of labor.
hopefully on your next check you will be even more thinned out and starting to dilate. It sounds like everything is going smoothly. But no one can predict when your labor will start! best of luck to you!

60% thinned means that your water is going to break soon have sex you may have the baby sooner than expected there is no need to worried about having the baby early I had my baby at 27.2 weeks and she is doing great. at birth she only weighed 1 lb 15 oz she was 3 months early though. there is nothing to worry about youll be fine. it just that your almost ready and you thinning out doesnt mean that labor will be shorter your water can break and you not deliver for a day or so thats normal is there any leaking any ?

If you're already 60% then look at it this way you only have 40% more to go and that can happen in a long walk. I bet you'll have your baby within the next week. I delivered a healthy baby at 38 weeks so you'll be just fine. Congrats!

Actually, it dosen't;t mean much at all. Especially if you are a first time mom. Your cervix can be 80% or more efaced for weeks! same with the dialation.
You can literally go from being 1 cm dialated to 10 in a couple of hours or take weeks.
Everybody is different. First time moms usually are overdue..
Just let nature do its job :D
It will be great!

It ability which you're approximately to pass into hard artwork. in case you start up up contracting, you may dilate quite actually in the adventure that your cervix is extremely skinny. purely 8 cms to pass! besides the reality that, you may variety on centimeters in the commencing up...yet with a skinny cervix, i might prepare to your toddler to be right here..

You have to ask your doctor questions. Go back and ask everything you asked here. Each person is different.
