1. Eliminate the two party system. (But this won't really work, seeing how our style of government is most conducive to this and always has been. Its a nice idea though.)
2. Restore elements of the constitution that are being ignored. (I.e. congress declaring war, checks and balances, the bill of rights.)
3. Strong Anti-lobbying laws. Lobbyists don't represent the people...they represent rich people with money.
4. A media that isn't pandering to the government.
5. Remove Bush from office.
6. Stop pandering to big business and the wealthy. (Reintroduce the inheritance tax, fix the tax cuts)

1. People should elect using logical reasons vs. emotional, that is, vote for the best person instead of voting for someone you like.
2. Get rid of special interest groups and lobbyists in particular.
3. Set up term limits. Two terms of four years each for congress and also for senate. One term of six years for president.
4. To be eligible for presidency, one must have been a governor and have been as a house member as well(congress or senate)
5. Provide equal amount of campaign money from public funds. No private or donated money may be used for the campaign. That will even up the playing field.

Not in any particular order...
A re-education of the populace on the duties and responsibilities of citizenship
A re-evaluation of why we're a country and what the country should be, both domestically and in the world
A national agreement on the values that we will live by at all levels, from the White House all the way down to the individual
And on a lesser scale - training in project management and problem-solving for all levels of legislators and administrators, until they learn that the first step is NOT funding

Get rid of the Bush administration, if you are talking about the US government. Looking at it from a world perspective, however, you need to get rid of all the corrupt officials and have a good system of checks and balances. Everyone should be held accountable. Pay more attention to education and less to defense. Have a better foreign policy- since the world is becoming a global village, we need to keep ourselves open to the needs of everyone as citizens of the world. Allow free trade- but that's just my opinion.

I will give you 2 things and they need to be done in this order.
1: A 2nd American Revolution
2: Execute any politician, judge, state attorney or police officer who violates the Constitution.
When people in power fear for their lives because of an illegal action they take, instead of a slap on the wrist, then....
we will have a better government.

I don't know if I can give you four or five, but I will tell you, the only way to make government better is to get involved at a local level. You have to let the politicians know what you want and not let them guess. Not enough people contact their representatives with their thoughts and that is what they are there for. Basically people have to care...

To make government better, we all need awareness of the political process, in this country; then, civic involvement, unite and protest; the government has ways of keeping us divided, so you will find a current of opposition in terms of uniting. The largest populous in our country is "Baby-Boomer" and they are not afraid to challenge authority, '60's radicals, experienced in such matters..now is a good time to change the political process in this country. So, get involved, and get your friends involve, and keep asking the kinds of questions, like this one, that you do.
