RE:
Is there land under Antarctica or is it only ice?
I was wondering if Antarctica is ice above land or if it's just ice and nothing beneath it.

Antarctica is indeed a continent, pushed down by 90% of the Earth's snow and ice.
The Arctic doesn't have any land under it, thus it is all exposed to warming water, causing it to melt faster.

absolely antartica is the contenent and ice lies on it. more than 170 million years ago, Antarctica was part of the supercontinent Gondwana. Over time, Gondwana gradually broke apart and Antarctica as we know it today was formed around 25 million years ago.
Antarctica is Earth's southernmost continent, overlying the South Pole. Situated in the southern hemisphere and largely south of the Antarctic Circle, Antarctica is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. At 14.4 million square kilometers (5.4 million sq mi), it is the fifth-largest continent in area after Asia, Africa, North America, and South America; in turn, Europe and Australia are smaller. Some 98% of Antarctica is covered by ice, which averages at least 1.6 kilometers (1.0 mi) in thickness
