Yes he went after something and then u moved so he stayed still hoping u would not see.
If u bet bit by a brown recluse spider ,it will produce a red target with a white center.
By accident I have found one of the best cures.
Get u some Blistex ointment and put on the bite. in about 15 min the bite opened and all this jelly stuff came out,so I cleaned it up and applied some more Blistex. It was well in 3 days.

NC,
You bet. I find dead ones occasionally in the middle of the floor. They are predatory spiders and crawl around the floors at night looking for live bugs or other spiders to attack and eat. You can buy glue boards and put them alongside the baseboards and they are much more likely to get caught than somewhere out in the open. I recommend this or an exterminator (that's what I ended up doing). They leave a really nasty bite and if you aren't careful - like leave jeans on the floor and then pull them on real quick just to get something on, you can get bit.
Good luck getting rid of them.

its unlikely. are u sure it wasnt a wood spider, they almost look alike. Brown recluses hide in their webs, outside in woodpiles, under rocks, and in very dark places in the house, be careful they are very dangerous. Recluse means shy, thats why it is called the brown recluse. It is a shy species. its unlikely u will see one during the day, but they come out to play at night.Whatever u do.. be careful!!!

I wouldn't mess with these spiders. My husband was bitten by one on the thumb a little over a decade ago. The bite swelled up and became discolored. He went to the doctor and had a chunk of skin taken out. The doctor told him that the skin literally dies after it is bitten and won't heal. The affected area has to be cut out. He now has a scar on his thumb from where the bite was.

That is one spider that deserves squashing. The bite is not a poison as much as it is a digestive juice, so there is severe tissue damage at the bite site. Worse then a black widow, in my opinion.
