Which PhD program is the easiest to pursue? Also what is the salary for that position?

I don't think you can fairly answer this question. First, I don't think any PhD is particularly easy to pursue. They are all time consuming (taking between 6-12 years) and emotionally and intellectually rigorous. Second, I can't imagine that anyone chooses a PhD program because they think it will be easier to complete than any other program.

The salary for PhDs varies widely. PhDs entering the academic job market in the social sciences or humanities as assistant professors can expect to make maybe $35,000-50,000. If you aren't lucky enough to get a tenure track job (not surprising in this market) and you end up going the adjunct route, you could make $15,000-$25,000. Science/technology/business PhDs entering other fields can probably expect a lot more.

I don't know anyone who is pursuing a PhD because they anticipate dreamy salaries. They all seem really passionate about their materials and research.

No PhD is actually easy....you pretty much have to be in the top 10% of your undergrad class, and top 20% of your masters class to get a PhD.

However, an arts PhD would probably be easier than say a PhD in physics. I have a communications degree, along with economics, and I would say communications is the easiest. It pays....well you might be able to get an advisers position, but you're basically looking at $80 000k a year or $60 000k for very little work. Like 4 hours a day.

No PhD. is easy. Period. But if you love what you are doing, it will seem easier than any other doctoral program, that's for sure. How much you make also depends on many factors. Some of them will be how the economy is doing at that moment, whether you write lots of books that sell well, and many things that will only reveal themselves to you at the time they occur. But the higher you go with your education, the more control you have over your career. Don't let momentary conditions influence your decisions -GO FOR IT!

A PhD in Education is by far the easiest to get, and by far the least respected.

Anyone involved in higher education knows that a PhD in Education is a joke degree, but the education establishment will make sure that they are necessary for something or another. Pitiful.

Salary? Low, PhD-wise, and headed lower.

Probably psychology. Its the easiest study area even at an undergrad level. Starting salaries for untenured professors are around $60-$80k, but vary depending on the institution.
