I am 34 1/2 weeks pregnant and getting an amniocentesis test done at 36 weeks. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the results back?

i actully just had mine done today. it usually takes about a week, but for a couple extra hundred bucks(some insuances cover this) you can get some results back in about three days. the reults for that will only cover a few different things, but that way, youll know asap. good luck, and no worries, it really doesnt hurt that bad(and the needle is really small)

Depends on what they are testing for. They use amnio to test for a lot of things these days. Ask when you are there and ALWAYS call back and ask for results if you haven't heard. Sometimes things fall through the loop. At this late date, I doubt you are getting the traditional check for genetic abnormalities (way past for that).

2 weeks, I had mine done at 20 weeks. you could call genetics and find out the results and the gender.

a couple of days and some doctors don't even contact you inless something's wrong.
