What's the difference between taxis and kinesis?
I understand that taxis is when an individual moves toward or away from the stimulus, why is that?

And in kinesis: it depends on how strong the stimulus is, and the individual can move in any direction and at any rate, am i right?

And can you all give examples?

kinesis is undirected movement
taxis is more complex and is what we consider to be movement by the animal.

kinesis is often more in lower animals eg paramecium, which has no true eyes or other senses as such and just blunders around. Its true the animal will move in any direction, but will turn more or less with different stimuli eg increasing light may cause more turning...but there is not actual direction in which they turn.

Taxis is vaired as there are many types of taxis and move either towards ( positive) or away ( negative) the stimuli. So its a DIRECTED movement.
important ones are photo- chemo-.eg some insects move away from light negative phototaxis, or move towards a chemical ( or water) positive chemotaxis

Kinesis is the movement of an organism in response to a stimulus. This movement is NON-DIRECTIONAL, and is usually proportional to the intensity of the stimulus. ex. A single celled organism will move slower in a medium with a high concentration of nutrients to enable it to stay within this environment longer. Taxis is a DIRECTIONAL movement towards (positive) or away (negative) from a stimulus, this can also be proportional to the intensity of the stimulus. ex. A single celled organism with light sensing receptor will move towards that light to facilitate photosynthesis.
