The Chicago White Sox were not nick named "The Black Sox" because of the alleged 'fix' in 1919, but actually the year before the nick name began appearing because Chicago owner Charles Comisky was too cheap to launder the players uniforms.
Other major league teams in various major leagues that played in Baltimore have been known as the Terrapins, the Marylands, the Monumentals and Lord Baltimores. Black Sox may have been the nick name of a ***** League team that played there at one time or another.

the "black sox" was also a nickname given to the chicago white sox after 8 players were found to have thrown games, being paid to do so by gambling interests.
incidentally; the original baltimore orioles were moved to new york city, where their name was changed to the New York Highlanders and subsequently became the Yankees.
