-7 - a = -6
(add 7 on both sides)
-a = 1
a = -1

4x - 3 = 7x +8 - 8x
(Group the x together)
4x - 3 = -x + 8
(Add x on both sides)
5x - 3 = 8
(Add 3 to both sides)
5x = 11
x = 11/5
..i think it should be done like this..

-7 -a = -6 (add 6 both sides )
-7 +6 -a = 0 (add a both sides )
-7 +6 = a
-1 = a
whatever is done to both sides of an equation doesnt change the result

4x - 3 = 7x +8 - 8x
4x -3 -8 =7x -8x
-3 -8 = 7x -8x -4x
-11 = -5x
x = 11/5
